Overview I need an experienced IT professional to perform a one-time, remote data migration for a small medical practice. The job involves extracting all patient and billing data from a legacy DOS-based practice management program (MD VersaForm by CompuMed Consulting) and importing it into a modern, cloud-based replacement (Practice Mate by Office Ally — free to set up and use). This is a defined, one-time project with a clear finish line. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with vintage or legacy software, DOS-era databases, and data migration. The Setup The practice currently runs MD VersaForm — a DOS-based forms and billing program from the 1990s that is no longer supported or compatible with modern operating systems The target system is Practice Mate by Office Ally (officeally.com) — a free, web-based medical practice management platform The practice's computer runs Windows 10 Remote access to the computer will be provided via TeamViewer or AnyDesk — the practice owner is non-technical, so part of the job will include walking them through the initial connection setup What You'll Need to Do Connect remotely to the practice's Windows 10 computer Assess the VersaForm data files and determine the best export method — VersaForm's built-in Report-to-disk feature, its dedicated Transfer Utility, or an alternative you identify Export all patient and billing data to a usable format (CSV, plain text, or similar) Set up a Practice Mate account and import or enter the exported records Verify the system is working correctly before signing off What We'll Provide Remote access to the practice computer via TeamViewer or AnyDesk A signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA) before work begins — required since you'll be handling Protected Health Information (PHI) The official VersaForm XL user manual (PDF) with key export sections already identified: Chapter 7 (Report-to-disk export), Chapter 18 p. 291 (Transfer Utility), and Appendix D (file format reference) Research notes from prior investigation, including known troubleshooting paths HIPAA Requirement This job involves access to patient records (PHI).
