Legal Counsel for Private Lender

PART-TIME IN-HOUSE COLLECTIONS ATTORNEY Private Investment Firm | Texas | $4,500–$6,500/mo | Flexible Remote We're a private investment company that buys and resolves commercial defaulted debt. We're building our in-house legal operation and need a sharp, self-directed attorney to run it. This isn't a document review role. You'll be filing cases, pursuing corporate defendants, and developing the playbook we'll use on every deal going forward. If you're early in your career and want real courtroom and enforcement experience — not busy work — this is it. The Work Our model is straightforward: we file suit against corporate obligors, get judgments, and then pursue executives personally to move toward fast settlement. You'll own that process end-to-end: • Drafting and filing petitions against corporate defendants in Texas courts • Building reusable templates for the entire case lifecycle • Executing post-judgment enforcement (turnover orders, levies, charging orders) • Analyzing personal liability exposure for company executives (personal guarantees, alter ego, fraudulent transfer) • Advising leadership on case strategy and settlement positioning You'll work directly with company leadership — no layers, no bureaucracy. What you build here becomes the foundation of our legal program. Who We Want • Texas-licensed attorney, 1–4 years out • Some civil litigation experience (even clerkship or internship counts) • Strong writer who can produce clean, tight legal documents • Entrepreneurial — you're comfortable figuring things out, not waiting to be told • Any background in collections, creditors' rights, or commercial lending is a bonus The Deal • 20–25 hours/week, flexible — built around your schedule • Remote-first with occasional in-person coordination in Texas • Bar dues and CLE reimbursed thru Upwork.
