# Legal & Regulatory Research Analyst ### Full-Time (40–50 Hours per Week) | Initial 4-Week Project | Remote ## About the Role We are seeking an exceptional **Legal & Regulatory Research Analyst** to join our team on an initial four-week full-time project. Your role will be to research, analyse and document legislation, regulations, government policies and technical guidance documents, transforming complex legal information into structured, easy-to-understand knowledge that can be used by both our staff and AI systems. This is **not** a legal advice role. Instead, you will become an expert at extracting information from legislation and creating a structured knowledge base that supports decision-making. The initial project focuses on Australian planning legislation, however future projects may include building regulations, contracts, taxation, compliance, property law and other regulatory frameworks. --- ## Project Objective The objective is to create a comprehensive, structured knowledge base by: * Reading legislation and government publications. * Identifying key rules, definitions and requirements. * Explaining legislation in plain English. * Cross-referencing related legislation and documents. * Creating FAQs and decision trees. * Documenting assessment methodologies. * Building AI-ready knowledge that can be used to automate complex decision-making. --- ## Responsibilities * Review legislation, regulations, policies and government guidance documents. * Extract key rules, obligations, definitions, exceptions and decision points. * Rewrite complex legal language into clear, concise English. * Produce structured summaries of legislation. * Create Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). * Develop decision trees and assessment workflows. * Cross-reference related legislation and supporting documents. * Maintain accurate references back to original source material. * Organise information into a structured knowledge base. * Work closely with our management team to refine and improve documentation. --- ## Ideal Candidate You enjoy researching complex information and organising it into clear, practical documentation. You are analytical, highly organised and enjoy creating systems that help others understand complicated topics. Experience in Australian legislation is **not required**. We are looking for someone with exceptional research, analytical and documentation skills. --- ## Preferred Background Candidates may have experience in: * Legal Research * Public Policy * Regulatory Compliance * Government * Technical Writing * Knowledge Management * Business Analysis * Process Documentation * Urban Planning * Architecture * Civil Engineering --- ## Essential Skills * Excellent written English. * Outstanding research skills. * Strong analytical thinking. * Ability to interpret legislation and technical documents. * Exceptional attention to detail. * Ability to organise large volumes of information logically. * Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or similar. * Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and online research. --- ## Deliverables During the project you will help produce: * Legislative summaries. * Plain-English explanations. * Structured knowledge articles. * Frequently Asked Questions. * Decision trees. * Assessment methodologies. * Cross-referenced legislation registers. * AI-ready documentation. --- ## What Success Looks Like By the end of the project, we will have a well-organised knowledge base that enables our team and future AI systems to accurately understand and apply complex legislation.
