Legal Researcher Needed with Westlaw Access for Case Law Research & Data Compilation

I am looking to hire an experienced legal researcher, paralegal, law student, or attorney who has active access to Westlaw and knows how to use it efficiently for case law research. The project involves researching and compiling specific categories, or “buckets,” of legal data needed for pending legal matters. You must be comfortable locating relevant statutes, regulations, case law, secondary sources, and persuasive authority when applicable. Important Requirement:You must already have your own lawful Westlaw access. Please do not apply if you do not have access to Westlaw or if you are not experienced using legal research databases. Scope of Work May Include: Searching Westlaw for relevant federal and state cases Pulling cases by issue, statute, legal doctrine, or fact pattern Compiling key case summaries Identifying useful quotes from opinions Organizing cases into specific research buckets Noting jurisdiction, court level, procedural posture, and whether the case is binding or persuasive Providing proper legal citations Flagging negative treatment, overruled cases, or distinguishable cases Creating a clean research memo, chart, or spreadsheet depending on the assignment Ideal Candidate: Has active Westlaw access Has experience with legal research and case law analysis Understands how to use KeyCite or similar citation-checking tools Can distinguish binding versus persuasive authority Can summarize cases clearly and accurately Is detail-oriented and organized Can follow specific research instructions Has experience with civil rights, constitutional law, administrative law, contracts, torts, or statutory interpretation preferred, but not required Deliverables: The final work product should include organized research in a clear format, such as: Case name and citation Jurisdiction and court Relevant legal issue Short factual background Holding Useful quote or legal principle How the case supports or weakens the argument KeyCite status or negative treatment Link or Westlaw citation where available To Apply, Please Include: Confirmation that you have active Westlaw access Your legal research experience Examples of the types of legal research projects you have completed Your hourly rate or fixed-fee preference Your availability and expected turnaround time Whether you are comfortable organizing findings into charts or spreadsheets This may become an ongoing research role if the first project goes well.
