Legally Trained Content Editor & AI-Augmented Writer for Law Firm + Regulatory Articles SUMMARY We are a growing law firm SEO agency based in Sydney, Australia, looking for legally trained, AI-comfortable writers to help us produce high-quality legal and regulatory articles for our attorney and advisory clients on an ongoing basis. This role is NOT generic blog writing. You will be using our in-house, AI-powered legal research and article-writing system to create content that is: * Legally accurate for the jurisdiction we specify * Easy to understand for non-lawyers and sophisticated lay clients * Optimised for SEO to help firms get more leads *Delivered on time, consistently, every month ABOUT THE WORK 🧑⚖️ Typical tasks you will handle: * Use our AI-powered internal system to research legal and regulatory topics based on a brief we provide * Generate and refine article drafts using our AI workflows and checklists * Verify all legal content against primary sources (cases, legislation, regulations, guidance) – not just AI output * Ensure the correct jurisdiction and compliance-sensitive language for each piece * Structure the article with clear headings, subheadings, and logical flow * Optimise on-page SEO (keywords, headings, internal links, meta suggestions) following our process * Make reasonable revisions based on feedback from our lead writer/editor (included in the per-article fee, especially while we calibrate) * Communicate clearly with our team and meet agreed deadlines on staggered schedules Typical content types: * Foundational content that explains core concepts within a complex practice area (for example: AFSL licensing obligations, anti-money laundering compliance, directors’ duties, tax residency rules) * Deep-dive articles that go in-depth on specific subtopics, procedures, or issues (for example: continuous disclosure obligations, breach reporting, strata defect claims, move-offshore tax planning) * Content aimed at specific client segments within a practice area (for example: founders considering moving offshore, high-net-worth clients, AFSL holders, regulated advisers) * FAQ-style articles that address common questions in plain language for non-lawyers Most work is in regulated or technically complex areas (financial services, regulatory, tax, corporate/commercial, migration, etc.), not just surface-level PI or traffic law style content. SCOPE, VOLUME, AND PAY 💰 * Length: Typically around 1,200–1,500 words per article * Volume: Up to 30 articles per month once fully ramped, depending on your capacity and our needs * Cadence: Article topics are assigned at the beginning of each month, with delivery expected in two tranches – first tranche due roughly two weeks into the month, second tranche due at the end of the month (we do NOT want everything delivered in one big batch at month-end) * Pay: 30 AUD (~20 USD) per article to start * Type: Long-term, remote, contractor/freelancer role * Structure: Fixed price per article, with a paid test article first We are looking for people who want stable, repeatable work each month and who are comfortable using AI plus our internal systems to work quickly and accurately. ABOUT OUR PROCESS 🤖 Our agency is “AI-native.” You will not be staring at a blank page. We provide: * Topic frameworks, example titles, jurisdiction, target client, and SEO goals * Our proprietary AI-powered workflows for legal research and drafting * Clear checklists and examples of what an “A+” article looks like * Feedback from our lead writer to help you ramp up quickly Your job is to: * Drive the AI correctly (good prompts, good inputs) * Apply your legal understanding, legal research, and critical thinking * Read and verify underlying resources (at least several core sources per article) instead of blindly trusting AI * Research and, where needed, propose relevant article topics within the practice areas and cities we give you * Edit and structure content so it is accurate, clear, and persuasive * Follow the process every time and turn work in on schedule * Take feedback seriously and revise drafts until they meet our standard (within reason, this is included in the per-article rate) WHO THIS ROLE IS A GOOD FIT FOR ✅ This role is ideal for you if: * You have real legal background (law degree, admitted lawyer, or strong paralegal/legal writing experience) * You are comfortable reading, analysing, and interpreting complex laws and regulations (not just skimming a summary blog) * You are comfortable with AI tools and see them as a way to work faster and better, not as a threat * You enjoy taking structured briefs and turning them into clean, useful, technically accurate content * You can handle multiple deadlines across a month and keep yourself organised * You are okay with a clear, fixed-per-article rate and care more about consistent workload and a long-term relationship than chasing one-off high-ticket opinion pieces WHO THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR ❌ This role will not be a good fit if: * You refuse to use AI tools or insist on writing everything fully from scratch * You want maximum creative freedom, personal essays, or heavily opinion-driven thought leadership pieces – this work is structured, template-guided and often technical * You have no real exposure to legal topics and are not willing to do careful legal research * You can read the law but struggle to interpret, analyse, and explain it clearly * You are in your very early legal studies and not yet comfortable with complex regulatory material * You expect to charge separately for every revision – reasonable revisions and feedback cycles to hit our standard are part of the job * You struggle to meet deadlines or communicate if something changes * You are looking for $150–$500 per article bespoke thought leadership work HOW WE START (PAID TEST ARTICLE) 🧪 Our hiring process: 1. You submit your application with answers to the screening questions below. 2. If selected, we give you a paid test article, including: * Brief with topic, city/state, and target client * Access to our AI-powered process and checklist 3. You complete the test article using our workflow and return it by the agreed deadline. 4. Our lead writer reviews your work for: * Legal accuracy, nuance, and correct jurisdiction * Structure and clarity * SEO basics (headings, keyword placement, internal link suggestions) * Tone fit for our clients (AU/UK and other common-law jurisdictions) * On-time delivery and responsiveness 5. If it is a good fit, we gradually increase your volume up to an agreed monthly level (for example, 10–30 articles per month, depending on your capacity and quality). EXPECTATIONS AND COMMUNICATION 📣 * You must be able to acknowledge messages (e.g. “got it, will check in [x time period]”) within 12 hours on all days (weekends too). * You must be able to meet agreed deadlines and flag issues early if anything might be late. * You are accountable for the contents of each article. “The AI wrote it” is not an excuse – you must verify and correct the output. * You will be working within an existing system and process. We welcome suggestions, but the priority is following the process accurately and consistently. * We value long-term relationships. If you show quality, reliability, and a good attitude, there is room for a steady stream of work and potential rate increases over time. If this sounds like the type of work and environment you are looking for, please apply with your answers to the screening questions. We look forward to reviewing your application. SCREENING QUESTIONS ❓ You will be asked to answer the following questions when submitting a proposal: 1. Please share 2–3 links or files of legal or regulatory content you have written or edited. For each, state: * Jurisdiction (e.g. AU, US, UK, etc.), and * Your role (research, drafting, editing, SEO, AI-assisted, etc.). 2. This role pays 20 USD per 1,200–1,500 word article, with potential for up to 30 articles per month. Is this acceptable for you? Over the next 3 months, what is the maximum number of articles per month you can reliably deliver? 3. Describe your experience using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude) for legal research, drafting, or editing. In a few sentences, how do you personally ensure legal and factual accuracy when using AI (including how you verify statutes, regulations, and cases)? 4. Without writing the full article, outline in 6–10 short bullet points how you would structure an article titled: “Strata Defect Claims in New South Wales: A Practical Guide for Owners.” 5. What is your legal background (e.g. law degree, lawyer, paralegal, legal studies, or significant legal writing experience)? Which jurisdictions and practice areas are you most confident writing about, especially in technical or regulated areas (e.g. financial services, tax, corporate, migration, other complex advisory work)?
