Level Designer for Narrative Story Game
Worldwide
We're a small team building a narrative-driven story game with occasional JRPG-style exploration, puzzles, and turn-based combat. Most of the game is dialogue and story; the level design challenge is making the exploration segments feel meaningful, well-paced, and connected to the narrative. What you'd do: - Design 2D exploration levels (layout, pacing, points of interest, navigation flow) - Help balance dialogue-heavy sections against gameplay segments - Work from and contribute to design docs; the dev team implements You should have: - Level design experience in shipped or substantial projects (any engine - we use Godot, but you won't need to code) - Feel for narrative pacing - when to let players explore vs. read vs. act - Clear written communication (our team is async, part-time, multiple time zones) Nice to have, not required: RPG/JRPG genre experience, narrative or quest design, Godot familiarity Engagement: Part-time / consulting basis to start. We'd begin with a small paid trial task (reviewing a build and proposing improvements to one existing area) before committing to more.
