Summary

I am a defendant in an active California Superior Court civil case involving a business/investment dispute. Opposing counsel has prepared a settlement agreement that I need a California-licensed attorney to review and negotiate, if possible. Another attorney has been working on the matter and said opposing council isn't willing to negotiate; however, the significance of the matter warrants a second opinion given the magnitude of impact the agreement could have on my life and work. Scope of work: 1. Review settlement agreement (~15 pages) and identify terms that are one-sided or disadvantageous 2. Advise on specific provisions to negotiate 3. Discuss best way to move forward regarding communications given current representation and an opposing council who has seemed to see-saw between aggressive and mindful. This is NOT mediation. I need someone advocating for my interests. Key details: - I am located in Texas. Case is in California. - Bounded scope engagement (not full trial and not litigation representation) Ideal candidate: - Active California Bar license (required, please provide Bar number) - Experience with settlement agreement negotiations in California civil courts - Experience in debtor-creditor law, civil defense, or business litigation - Comfortable working on a bounded scope - Willing to do a brief discovery call before engagement Budget: hourly for approximately 3-5 hours. Most of the work is done; this post is for finding a second opinion and negotiating support. Please state your fee structure in your proposal. Timeline: I need to respond to opposing counsel quickly.
