Licensed Structural Engineer (PE, Arizona) — Stamped Review needed
Worldwide
We're converting a shipping container into a mobile bar used at events in Arizona. The build includes an elevated viewing deck on top of the container with public occupancy, and a freestanding portal structure (columns + horizontal I-beam) that supports a large LED video wall suspended on chain hoists. A CAD contractor has developed a full SolidWorks model and fabrication package from the fabricator's drawings. We're now looking for a licensed structural engineer to review the design, determine the governing loads, and provide a stamped/sealed engineering package before fabrication moves forward. Project specifics: - LED screen: 30 ft wide x 14 ft tall, approx. 3,600 lbs, hung on a truss lifted by 3 chain hoists equally spaced across the span - Hoists attach to a horizontal I-beam (portal beam) positioned 2 ft off the container face; the screen hangs directly below it - Portal columns are permanently attached to the container and currently have base plates (18"x18"x3/4" with gussets) bearing directly on asphalt, no anchors - The container itself also sits on asphalt - This is a mobile structure that will be set up and torn down at multiple event venues, not a fixed installation Scope of work: - Review the existing SolidWorks model and fabrication drawings - Determine applicable design loads: deck occupancy load, dead load, and wind load, accounting for the fact this structure is relocated between venues rather than sited permanently - Confirm structural adequacy of the deck, guardrails, stairs/landing, and LED support portal - Evaluate the column base plate/asphalt bearing condition and provide a foundation and anchorage solution (footing, mat, ballast, or anchors as appropriate) - Confirm connection details, including the hoist attachment points and beam sizing for the suspended LED load - Provide a stamped (PE-sealed) written structural review and drawing package, including member sizing, connection details, and foundation/anchorage requirements - Be available for follow-up questions as fabrication proceeds Available materials: Several PNG images of the structure are attached, along with a link to a browser-viewable 3D model of the current design. Fabricator drawings and prior design correspondence are also available on request. Please review the attached images and 3D model, then let us know what additional information or documentation you'd need to properly evaluate the structure, along with your scope and fee quote. Deliverables: Final stamped structural review with design loads, member sizing, connection details, and foundation/anchorage recommendations Budget: Open to discussion based on your quoted scope after review
