Line Drawn Vector Illustrations for Dotted Journal Month Theme - Beach Huts

Project Overview The Journal Club is creating our flagship 2027 product – a pre-made bullet journal designed for people who want a fun and creative way to plan, track, and reflect without having to design their own pages. Each journal page layout has already been designed. We are now commissioning custom illustrations to bring each month’s theme to life. These illustrations will be placed within the layouts as decorative and interactive elements for our users to colour in. We are looking for a designer to bring our designs to life in a style that match the monthly theme and our established visual style. Month: August Theme: Beach Huts Theme Description: A row of classic beach huts lined up along the seafront, with pitched roofs, panelled doors and bold retro stripes. The mood is soft, colourful and nostalgic, think British summer holidays, simple bunting and deckchairs, with the huts themselves front and centre. Illustration Requirements • Style: Simple, clean black line art • Function: All illustrations will be used for colouring in – they should be visually engaging but easy for the average person to colour (not overly intricate or detailed) • 8 x A5 Pages as per the template provided, these include: o Title Page – must contain title and calendar o Self-Care Bingo & Goals – must contain 3x3 grid, titles, 6 colour boxes, 3 goals boxes o Sleep Rating – must contain title, tracker box, artwork should minimally impede on the box if at all. o Daily Rating – must contain title, 5 star rating boxes, and space for 31 element to be coloured in, each labelled with a number o Habit Tracker – must contain title, and 5 habit tracker boxes with MTWTFSS above, leaving 2 dots worth of space above clear for user to write, no drawing should impede within the box o Blank – page should remain 75% blank o Weekly Diary LHS & RHS, must contain title, and 4 roughly equally sized spaces with date titles. • All text and boxes will be set up on the page already; these can be moved within their set page but must remain the same size and set up. Format Specifications: • Black line only – no shading, colour, or gradients • All lines and shapes must be 1pt stroke width, with no fill • Files must be created and supplied back on the template file provided in .AI (Adobe Illustrator) • All artwork must be vector-based and fully editable. • Locked, or grouped elements on template must remain locked/grouped Key Considerations • Drawings should be open and inviting to colour, with a good balance of detail and white space • Any colour references are indicative of how users are expected to colour the page • Avoid large solid areas or fine intricate patterns • You should perform a basic test (printing or digital colouring) to ensure the designs are easy and enjoyable to colour • Illustrations must follow the visual style set out in our reference guide (provided) • Artwork must be original, digitally drawn and not generated with any AI assistance or tools, or copied from other sources What We’ll Provide • A mood board with inspiration for the theme • Style reference examples from previous months • .ai template file with artboards set up for each page • Font file. • Rough sketches of the designs, showing placement and visuals.
