Literary Agent / Publishing Strategist Needed to Represent Established Author, Business Platform & Multiple Book Properties Project Overview I am seeking an experienced Literary Agent, Publishing Strategist, or Book Acquisition Consultant to help position and represent a portfolio of business, entrepreneurship, leadership, and personal-development books to reputable traditional publishers. This is not a one-book project. I am looking for someone who can see, package, and communicate the larger opportunity: an experienced entrepreneur, best-selling business author, educator, speaker, podcast host, and creator of a growing entrepreneurship platform with multiple book properties and significant supporting intellectual property. The right person will help us build a publishing strategy around the entire author platform, determine which properties should lead the discussion with publishers, strengthen the proposals and positioning, and help create introductions and opportunities with respected publishing houses. Initial Book Properties The portfolio currently includes: The Four Paths — a strategic framework for executives, professionals, and experienced leaders evaluating what comes next in their career, business, or entrepreneurial journey. Systematic Growth for Entrepreneurs — a practical system designed to help entrepreneurs build stronger companies through repeatable processes, disciplined execution, and scalable growth strategies. 8 Lifestyles of Positive People — a personal-development and leadership book centered around the behaviors, perspectives, and habits that drive a more positive and productive life. Crafting a Compelling Pitch & Unlocking Investor Interest — a practical framework for entrepreneurs seeking to communicate their opportunity more effectively and increase investor engagement. Additional manuscripts, frameworks, training materials, and book concepts are also in development. The Larger Platform: The Entrepreneur's Game Plan The books are part of a much broader intellectual-property and media platform called The Entrepreneur's Game Plan. The vision is to create an integrated entrepreneurship ecosystem that can include: Books and publishing Entrepreneur education Workshops and training Keynote speaking Online courses Founder resources and tools Investor-readiness programs Podcast and media Corporate and university programs Licensing opportunities Digital content Future book properties The objective is to establish a strong, recognizable author platform rather than market a collection of unrelated books. About the Author I bring more than three decades of entrepreneurial, operating, leadership, and commercialization experience. My background includes: Best-selling business author Entrepreneur and company builder Healthcare and technology executive Founder and operator of multiple businesses Extensive experience raising capital, developing partnerships, and launching new ventures Founder and former leader of The Entrepreneurship Center at the University of Utah, where I helped create an infrastructure designed to educate and support entrepreneurs Experience helping launch and develop more than 1,100 companies Author, educator, speaker, and mentor to entrepreneurs Host of The Better Game Plan podcast Creator of The Entrepreneur's Game Plan Strong experience communicating to founders, executives, investors, students, and business audiences Existing books, manuscripts, frameworks, curriculum, presentations, and intellectual property that can support a larger publishing platform Previous editions of my books The Complete Book of Business Plans and Your First Business Plan have sold more than 700,000 combined copies. I am also comfortable in front of audiences, cameras, microphones, podcasts, interviews, webinars, and live events. I want publishers to see an author who is not simply bringing them a manuscript, but someone capable of actively helping build the market around the books. What I Need I am looking for someone who can help with some or all of the following: 1. Publishing Strategy Evaluate the book portfolio and recommend: Which book should lead our publishing outreach Which books should be positioned as follow-on titles Whether certain concepts should be repositioned, combined, or renamed How the books can support one another How to position The Entrepreneur's Game Plan as the umbrella platform Which publishers and imprints are the strongest strategic fit 2. Author Platform Positioning Help package my background and body of work into a compelling publishing narrative. The goal is for acquisition editors to quickly understand: This is not simply another entrepreneur with a manuscript. This is an experienced operator, educator, author, and media-ready entrepreneur with an expandable platform and multiple commercially viable properties. 3. Book Proposal Development Review, strengthen, or help create professional publishing proposals that may include: Book overview Market positioning Target audience Author biography Author platform Competitive title analysis Marketing strategy Promotional strategy Speaking and media opportunities Chapter summaries Sample chapters Future book roadmap Platform expansion opportunities 4. Publisher & Agent Outreach Ideally, the candidate will have direct experience or relationships with: Traditional publishing houses Business-book publishers Major publishing imprints Acquisition editors Literary agencies Publishing executives I am particularly interested in reaching established publishers that have a strong track record in: Business Entrepreneurship Leadership Personal development Career development Professional education 5. Representation / Introductions If you are a practicing literary agent and believe the portfolio is a fit for your agency, I am open to discussing formal representation. If you are a publishing consultant rather than an agent, I would still like to work with someone who understands how acquisitions actually happen and can help us prepare for and navigate those conversations. Who I Am Looking For Strong candidates should have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: Literary representation Traditional book publishing Book acquisitions Publishing-house editorial experience Business-book publishing Author platform development Book proposal development Publisher negotiations Publisher outreach Author branding and positioning I am especially interested in candidates who have successfully worked with: Entrepreneurs CEOs Business authors Speakers Thought leaders Consultants Professors or educators Media personalities Please Do Not Apply If... I am not looking for someone whose primary strategy is simply: Sending mass emails to publishers Uploading books to Amazon Selling self-publishing packages Creating generic query letters Producing automated publisher lists Promising guaranteed publishing contracts I understand that no legitimate agent or consultant can guarantee a publishing deal. I am looking for strategy, positioning, relationships, judgment, and professional execution. When Applying, Please Answer These Questions What experience do you have representing or placing business, entrepreneurship, leadership, or personal-development books? Have you personally worked with traditional publishers or acquisition editors? If so, which types of publishers or imprints? Have you helped an author position multiple books under one larger brand or platform? What would your process be for determining which of my books should lead our publishing strategy? Do you believe publishers today evaluate the author's larger platform as heavily as the individual manuscript? How would you present mine? Do you currently have relationships with literary agencies, acquisition editors, or publishing houses? Please provide examples of authors, books, proposals, or publishing projects you have worked on. Are you functioning primarily as a literary agent, publishing consultant, book proposal specialist, or publishing strategist? If you believe the project has representation potential, would you be open to discussing an agent-author relationship rather than solely a consulting engagement? What would you recommend as the first 30–60 days of work? Engagement Structure I am open to several structures depending upon the candidate: Initial publishing-strategy engagement Proposal development Publisher targeting and outreach Ongoing publishing advisory Literary representation A phased engagement beginning with evaluation and positioning I prefer to begin with a defined initial project so we can evaluate fit before expanding the engagement. The Opportunity I believe the strongest opportunity is not simply selling one manuscript. It is building a long-term publishing relationship around: an experienced author + proven entrepreneur + compelling intellectual property + multiple books + education + speaking + podcasting + media + The Entrepreneur's Game Plan platform. If you have the publishing experience, strategic perspective, and relationships to help package and take that opportunity to market, I would like to hear from you.
