Logo Redesign and Animation

1. Background COGConnect.ai is an innovative, evidence-based communication training platform developed by clinicians and educators at the University of Bristol. It uses interactive, simulation-based learning to help healthcare trainees and professionals enhance their consultation and communication skills. The brand currently conveys credibility and professionalism but needs a visual refresh to engage a younger, digital-native audience (18–30 years) — such as medical students, early-career clinicians, and allied healthcare professionals. Please use the website to inform your design: cogconnect.ai The logo can be found below, it is the 10 wheeled cog image: https://www.bristol.ac.uk/primaryhealthcare/teaching/cog-connect/ 2. Objectives Modernise the COGConnect logo and core infographic illustration (the 10-wheel consultation cycle) while preserving recognisability. Ensure the visual identity feels fresh, relevant, and motivational to younger healthcare learners. We want the figures in the COGConnect infographic to feel universally relatable to all students and healthcare professionals, regardless of identity or background. Retain professional credibility and educational trustworthiness — but with more energy, approachability, and visual simplicity. Achieve a design system that can translate across digital media (website, social media, e-learning platforms, mobile devices). 3. Tone & Mood: Empowering Clean and intelligent Fresh, digital-first Collaborative Human-centred (without relying on human photography) 4. Target Audience Primary: 18–30-year-old medical students, allied healthcare professionals, and junior clinicians. Secondary: Clinical educators, simulation trainers, NHS and university partners. Audience characteristics: Visually literate and digitally savvy Respond well to clean, minimal, app-style visuals Value authenticity, accessibility, and innovation Dislike dated or overly academic branding 5. Logo Redesign Requirements Retain the “cog” and “connection” theme — representing communication, cognition, and collaboration. Simplify and modernise the existing cog-heart hybrid symbol — fewer details, flat design, scalable. Avoid corporate stiffness — aim for friendly, professional, and tech-savvy. Designer may explore new colour palettes that appeal to a younger audience (e.g., fresher gradients or brighter accent tones) while maintaining balance and legibility. Designer may propose new typefaces appropriate for digital and print use. Deliver colour and monochrome variants for web and print. Output formats: SVG, PNG, transparent background, favicon. 6. Illustration Refresh Requirements (10-Wheel Infographic) Maintain the 10-phase cycle structure (representing stages of consultation). Simplify design — cleaner shapes, consistent line weight, minimal text. The two illustrated figures in the COGConnect artwork should be re-imagined to appear gender-neutral and ethnically inclusive. The design should avoid specific markers of gender, ethnicity, or culture, while still conveying warmth, empathy, and human connection. The style should use abstract or simplified human forms rather than realistic features, to ensure inclusivity and focus on the concept of connection rather than individual characteristics. We want the figures to feel universally relatable to all students and healthcare professionals, regardless of identity or background. Introduce dynamic, modern colour gradients or soft shading to replace flat primary colours. Use motion-inspired shapes (arcs, nodes, or flowing energy lines) to convey connection. Make the infographic modular, so each wheel can be isolated and used as an icon for its phase. Provide versions optimised for screen and print. Deliverable Formats Logo: SVG, PNG (transparent), EPS, favicon Infographic: SVG, PNG, layered Illustrator or Figma file Outputs must display well across web, phone, app, and print (high contrast, accessible design). Desirable: animated assets (GIF / Lottie format for website hover effects) What to Include in Your Proposal Please include: Portfolio examples of brand identity or logo redesign work — particularly any work for education, health, or tech sectors Examples of infographic or icon system design A brief note on your proposed approach to the central figures (the inclusive human forms) Your process — how many concepts/directions you will present, how revisions work Estimated timeline broken down by deliverable Confirmation you can deliver layered Figma or Illustrator source files
