Summary

IMPORTANT: To show that you read the full job post, begin your proposal with the word “VIDEO.” About the Channel I am building a personal finance YouTube channel that combines practical money education with motivational and emotionally engaging storytelling. I am looking for a reliable long-term video editor who can turn raw talking-head footage into polished, engaging 10–15 minute YouTube videos. This is not just a basic cutting role. You should understand pacing, storytelling, visual clarity, and audience retention while also knowing when to slow the edit down and let an important or emotional moment breathe. Pay and Workload - Pay: $50 per completed 10–15 minute video - Starting workload: Approximately 4 videos per month - Future goal: 2 videos per week, or approximately 8 videos per month - Expected monthly earnings: $200 initially, growing to approximately $400 as the workload increases - Long-term opportunity for the right editor - Potential rate increases based on performance, reliability, and channel growth Please only apply if the $50-per-video starting rate works for you. What I Will Provide You will receive: - Raw talking-head footage - An organized script with editing cues when applicable - A detailed editing SOP - Four annotated Loom breakdowns with timestamps and screenshots - Brand and visual-style guidance - Structured feedback on your first edits You will not be expected to guess the editing style without direction. However, I do want an editor who can study the guide, understand the visual patterns, and use creative judgment. Editing Responsibilities You will be responsible for: - Removing mistakes, unnecessary pauses, and weak takes - Creating clean, natural jump cuts without awkward sentence endings - Keeping the pacing engaging without making the video feel chaotic - Giving the opening and first 30 seconds the strongest visual support - Adding relevant b-roll and stock footage that matches the exact idea being discussed - Adding accurate, well-timed captions, key phrases, and on-screen text - Creating simple icons, charts, definitions, comparisons, and financial graphics - Using consistent typography, brand colors, and mobile-readable layouts - Adding chapter title cards and section transitions - Using subtle zooms, sound effects, and pattern interrupts intentionally - Adding uplifting, motivational background music that supports the message - Lowering or changing the music during serious or emotional moments - Performing basic color correction and audio cleanup - Adding link prompts, subscribe graphics, and other calls to action when requested - Using only properly licensed music, sound effects, b-roll, and visual assets Editing Style The main editing reference is [Natalie Dawson’s YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@thenataliedawson). I am looking for: - Clean, modern talking-head editing - Motivational music underneath the voice - Strong visual support during the opening - Relevant b-roll instead of generic filler - Large, clean text that is readable on mobile - Icons and simple graphics that make financial concepts easier to understand - Purposeful visual changes that maintain attention - Smooth chapter transitions with consistent branding - Strategic zooms and sound effects - A polished, motivational feeling without over-editing The Natalie Dawson channel should be treated as editing inspiration, not something to copy frame for frame. My SOP will provide the more specific expectations for my channel. Quality Standard Every visual should support the words being spoken. Do not add effects simply because several seconds have passed. The strongest candidates will understand that retention-focused editing means: - Making the first 5–10 seconds visually engaging - Putting extra attention into the first 30 seconds - Changing visuals frequently when it helps clarity or pacing - Matching b-roll, text, and graphics to the exact spoken point - Keeping numbers and financial explanations easy to follow - Avoiding generic, overly staged, seasonal, faint, or AI-looking b-roll - Maintaining consistent fonts, colors, icons, and chapter cards - Allowing vulnerable or emotional moments to feel natural - Keeping music and sound effects underneath the speaker’s voice - Making the edit engaging without making it distracting Requirements - Experience editing long-form talking-head YouTube videos - Strong written English for captions and communication - Proficiency in Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar software - Ability to create basic-to-moderate motion graphics - Understanding of YouTube storytelling, pacing, and retention - Access to properly licensed music, sound effects, and stock footage—or the ability to clearly explain which libraries you use - Reliable communication and attention to detail - Ability to follow a detailed SOP and apply feedback - Stable internet for downloading and uploading large files - A computer capable of editing 4K footage smoothly - Ability to meet agreed deadlines consistently Hiring Process 1. Submit your proposal and answer the screening questions. 2. I will review your portfolio and shortlist candidates. 3. Shortlisted candidates will receive the editing SOP and reference materials. 4. You will confirm whether you can confidently create this editing style. 5. Selected candidates may complete a paid 30-second editing test. 6. The best fit will be offered consistent long-term work. All hiring communication and payments will remain through Upwork. What to Include in Your Proposal Remember to begin your proposal with the word “VIDEO.” Please include: - Two links to your most relevant long-form talking-head edits - A short explanation of what you personally edited in each example - The editing software you use - The music, sound-effect, and stock-footage libraries you use - Your realistic turnaround for one 10–15 minute video - Confirmation that you can edit 4K source footage - Confirmation that you accept the starting rate of $50 per completed video - Two specific editing choices from Natalie Dawson’s videos that you would bring into this channel Generic or AI-written proposals that do not address these points will not be considered.
