Long-Form True Crime Finishing Editor & Motion Graphics Specialist

Please read before applying. This is a finishing editor and motion graphics role, not the primary story assembly role. I am launching a long form true crime documentary YouTube channel called Cold Record. Cold Record reconstructs real criminal cases through court footage, interrogations, bodycam, jail calls, public records, case exhibits, documents, maps, and original narration. The channel’s visual style is serious, restrained, evidence driven, and documentary quality. It should feel premium and highly engaging without looking overedited, sensationalized, or artificially cinematic. We are using a two-editor production workflow. Another editor will build the main story assembly and rough cut. You will receive that approved rough cut, the project files, final narration, organized source footage, brand guide, source ledger, sound-design stems, cue sheet, and revision notes. Your job is to transform the approved assembly into a polished final documentary. Main responsibilities You will be responsible for: Evidence callouts Court-document highlights Timelines Maps Captions and subtitles Controlled zooms and reframing Restrained motion graphics Visual continuity Color correction and footage matching Integrating the provided music and SFX stems Dialogue and narration balancing Final pacing refinements Technical quality control Final master export Organized project-file delivery Visual identity Cold Record uses: A dark charcoal and near-black base Off-white text One cold-cyan signal color Thin cyan brackets, underlines, timestamps, and evidence labels Condensed documentary typography Monospace text for exhibits, timestamps, and evidence references Minimal transitions Slow push-ins Hard cuts around major reveals Silence and restraint rather than constant effects The video should not look like: A raw bodycam compilation A flashy TikTok edit A television-news package An overdramatic crime reenactment A generic AI-generated documentary Expected video format 25 to 40 minutes 16:9 long-form YouTube documentary Primarily real court, interrogation, bodycam, document, and public-record material Original narration supplied Rough story assembly supplied Sound-design package supplied separately Required deliverables Finished 1080p or higher master Final captions and SRT file Complete Premiere Pro and After Effects project files, or complete DaVinci Resolve project archive All linked graphic assets Cleanly organized timeline Final narration, dialogue, music, and SFX stems Version without music if requested List of any additional assets introduced Two reasonable revision rounds Important restrictions Do not introduce unapproved footage Do not download clips from other documentary creators Do not add unlicensed music or SFX Do not use fake AI reenactments Do not alter the factual meaning of court footage Do not use excessive glitch effects, police tape, blood graphics, red flashing screens, or generic crime visuals Do not rebuild the approved story without discussing the change first Applicant requirements Strong experience with long-form documentary editing Strong After Effects, Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Fusion skills Evidence, document, map, timeline, or investigative graphic experience Strong understanding of pacing and viewer retention Ability to work from another editor’s organized project Ability to integrate externally supplied sound-design stems Strong file organization Reliable communication When applying Please include: Your fixed-price range for finishing a 25 to 40-minute documentary Your typical turnaround time The software you use Three examples of relevant long-form documentary work One example featuring documents, evidence graphics, maps, timelines, or court footage Confirmation that you provide complete editable project files Confirmation that you can work from another editor’s rough-cut project Your price for a short paid editing test Your current availability for ongoing work Please begin your proposal with: COLD RECORD FINISH There may be ongoing work if the first project goes well.
