Long-Form YouTube Editor for Business & Education Channels (Retention-OBSESSED)

Needs to hire 3 Freelancers
Summary

⚠️ If you care about creative freedom, strategy, meaningful work, and being part of a team where your ideas actually matter… this is the role for you. ⚠️ This is not a "trim the pauses and add some music" gig. Long-form is won or lost on retention, and if you cannot keep someone watching past the halfway mark, this is not for you. We are Tacticaleads (.com), a social media agency that grows founders, creators, and high-ticket coaches through long-form YouTube content. We are hiring a long-form editor who thinks in story arcs and retention curves, not just cuts. Think Ali Abdaal clarity, Iman Gadzhi storytelling, and Peter McKinnon cinematic polish, with MrBeast-level obsession over keeping people watching. You will edit full videos (roughly 8 to 20 minutes) for founder Ethan Gegg (@EthanGegg) and client channels like @More4Life (100k+), @PhilippHumm (150k+), and @Techtrovert. Your edits are one part of a full growth pipeline: you will work alongside our strategists and thumbnail team. WHAT YOU WILL OWN Full long-form edits start to finish: a hook that earns the next 30 seconds, pacing that holds attention across the whole runtime, and a clean, intentional finish. WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS (retention first) - Hooks, re-hooks, open loops, and pattern interrupts to fight the drop-off - Story structure and narrative arc across the full video - Cutting dead air, filler, and anything that does not earn its place - Reading a retention graph and knowing what to fix TECHNICAL SKILLS - Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve - B-roll layering, sound design, music beds, and clean audio - Color grading that looks intentional, not "filtered" - Comfortable with multicam talking-head footage - Motion graphics and text callouts (After Effects a strong plus) - Chapters, end screens, templates, and tight file organization YOU ARE SOMEONE WHO - Edits for the viewer, not for yourself - Understands the difference between "watchable" and "unskippable" - Hits deadlines, because videos ship on a schedule - Learns fast, takes feedback, and iterates - Communicates clearly in English WHY WORK WITH US - Your edits directly drive channel growth, not a folder full of files - You are close to strategy, not siloed from it - Contract-to-hire: starts part-time and can grow into more hours or a full-time seat for top performers HOW TO APPLY 1. Put "DEEP CUT" at the top of your application so we know you read this. 2. Link 2 to 3 full long-form videos you edited (not shorts), and tell us your role on each. 3. In one or two sentences, tell us how you keep someone watching past the 50% mark.
