#15 Long‑Term n8n Automation Engineer – Work Alongside CRM & Telephony Specialists (Multi‑Year)

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated n8n Automation Engineer for a long‑term, multi‑year role. This is not a short engagement – we are looking for a consistent, reliable partner who can help us design, build, and maintain advanced automation workflows that drive operations for customer service, sales, marketing, and social media across multiple businesses. We have: A dedicated Vtiger CRM engineer who maintains and extends our in‑house Vtiger instance. You are not expected to replace that engineer – but you must know Vtiger extensively (its data model, API behavior, custom modules, and typical quirks) so that your workflows are highly efficient, deeply customizable, and integrate cleanly with our CRM. A telephony engineer who keeps our FreePBX / FusionPBX system with SIP trunking running smoothly and adds new features. You do not need to program or configure FusionPBX – you will collaborate with the telephony engineer to wire up voice/SMS capabilities into your n8n workflows. Your focus will be on orchestrating complex, cross‑platform automations that tie together CRMs, webhooks, custom endpoints, databases, websites, calendars, and many other services. Key Responsibilities n8n Configuration & Workflow Development – Optimize and expand our existing self‑hosted n8n environment as business needs evolve. (All workflows and assets remain our company’s full property.) Complex Workflow Automation – Build, test, and maintain workflows for: AI‑powered voice agents (ElevenLabs.io + OpenAI/GPT) handling inbound calls, outbound cold calls, appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and long‑term follow‑ups. Telephony integration via our in‑house FreePBX/FusionPBX systems (working with the telephony engineer) plus SMS for two‑way communication. CRM automations – Seamless integration with: Our in‑house Vtiger CRM (collaborating with the Vtiger engineer) Salesforce Sales Cloud HubSpot CRM Zoho CRM Pipedrive Monday CRM Messaging platform integrations – Two‑way automation and communication via Signal, WhatsApp, WeChat, Telegram, Slack, and other industry‑standard messaging apps. Marketing automations (lead nurturing, review generation, feedback collection at scale). Social media automation (scheduling 3 video posts/day across multiple platforms). Customer journey orchestration – maintaining full interaction histories so voice/SMS/messaging agents personalize conversations even months or years later. Integration with Diverse Systems – Your workflows will frequently interact with: Webhooks & custom API endpoints Internal and external databases Websites and web platforms Calendars (Google Calendar, etc.) And many other tools as our business grows Monitoring & Debugging – Proactively troubleshoot and refine existing workflows to maximize reliability and efficiency. Collaboration – Work daily with the business owner and alongside the Vtiger CRM engineer and telephony engineer to turn operational needs into automation solutions. Required Skills & Experience n8n Expertise – Proven, expert‑level ability to design, customize, and debug workflows from scratch. Vtiger CRM Deep Knowledge – You must know Vtiger’s data structure, API, custom fields/modules, and typical integration patterns. You will not own the CRM, but your workflows must work seamlessly with it. Broad CRM Integration Experience – Demonstrated ability to integrate n8n workflows with at least four of the following CRMs, and willingness to learn the others quickly: Salesforce Sales Cloud HubSpot CRM Zoho CRM Pipedrive Monday CRM Vtiger (mandatory) Messaging Platform Integrations – Hands‑on experience connecting n8n to Signal, WhatsApp, WeChat, Telegram, Slack, or similar messaging APIs for sending/receiving messages, media, and interactive workflows. API & Integration Mastery – Extensive experience building integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, and custom endpoints. Custom Coding – Strong ability in JavaScript and/or Python within n8n for custom data logic, transformations, and advanced error handling. AI & Voice Integration – Direct experience with LLMs (OpenAI/GPT), AI voice APIs (ElevenLabs.io), and telephony concepts (PBX/SIP/SMS) – though deep PBX admin is not required because you’ll work with our telephony engineer. Broad Integration Mindset – You have built workflows that touch webhooks, databases, websites, calendars, CRMs, and messaging platforms in a single flow. Strong Communication – Clear, proactive English; able to explain technical decisions and collaborate across engineering roles. Work Schedule & Compensation Type – Long‑term, ongoing contract (multi‑year). Schedule – Must be available daily for collaboration during 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST for at least 2–4 hours per day. Compensation – $300 USD per month (retainer, paid via Upwork) to start, with a clear path for significant increases as your role expands.
