Mandarin Medical Interpreter & Research Assistant

About the role I'm an international patient (based in France) seeking a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation / second opinion for a long-standing, complex medical condition at China's leading hospitals (e.g., PUMCH Beijing, West China Hospital Chengdu, Huashan Shanghai). I'm looking for a reliable, detail-oriented native-Mandarin assistant to act as my liaison with these hospitals' International Medical Services (IMS) departments. Requirements Native/fluent Mandarin + fluent professional English (French is a plus). Able and comfortable making phone calls to hospitals in mainland China (a Chinese phone number / ability to call China is essential). Familiarity with medical terminology and ideally the Chinese hospital system (挂号, 国际医疗部, MDT/会诊). Strong organization and clear written-English summaries. Professional, discreet, reliable — this involves sensitive personal health information, so confidentiality is a must. Nice to have Prior experience as a medical interpreter, patient coordinator, or in medical tourism. Based in or familiar with Beijing / Shanghai / Chengdu. Logistics Remote. Some tasks are time-sensitive to China business hours (Mon–Fri). Communication via Upwork + WeChat. I'd like to start with a small paid trial task (one hospital call + a one-page translation), then continue ongoing based on fit.
