Manga Background Artist (Long Term Part-Time) I am looking for a manga background artist to collaborate on a long term black and white shonen fantasy series. The focus is on detailed environments, cinematic composition, and strong world-building. Project Details • $15 USD per hour - On call freelance Position • Expected workload: up to 12 hours per month • Workload varies based on production needs, typically up to 12 hours per month • Some months may require fewer hours, while others may reach the full 12 hours - Can sometimes be an on call freelance position • Flexible scheduling (can be split into sessions, typically bi-weekly) • Long term collaboration • Reliability and consistent communication required Software Clip Studio Paint is preferred for workflow compatibility, but not required as long as you can deliver clean manga-style backgrounds. What You Will Create • Fantasy environments (castles, towns, forests, ruins, islands) • Black and white manga backgrounds • Perspective-heavy and atmospheric scenes Application Requirements Please include: • Country and time zone • Portfolio or social media (ArtStation, website, etc.) • Examples of background or environment work Selection Process: Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a virtual meeting and a short test drawing session. The purpose of this session is to confirm drawing ability and ensure all work is created without the use of AI tools. During the test, your drawing process must be visible at all times, including your hand or tablet input. This can be done using traditional drawing (paper and pencil) or a digital tablet. Screen sharing alone will not be accepted. Story Premise: For centuries, the world has suffered under the rule of an immortal emperor, feared and unstoppable.
