Manual QA Tester — Multi-Tenant B2B SaaS Web App (Ongoing, Part-Time)

Summary

We're a B2B SaaS platform for industrial and commercial property inspections, serving business customers in California. The application is built and running in a dedicated QA environment. We need a detail-oriented manual QA tester to tell us, honestly, whether it works and whether it feels finished. This is ongoing part-time work (around 10 hours/week) starting with a paid trial. If the first ~10 hours go well, we continue on a weekly basis. ── WHAT YOU'LL DO ── • Work through a structured, risk-ranked test plan we provide (checklist format, written for a tester rather than a developer) • Test across 6 user roles — Admin, Account Owner, Account Manager, Account Viewer, Inspector, Contractor — each of which sees and can do different things • Verify that customers cannot see each other's data. We have two separate test companies set up specifically so you can try to cross that line. This is some of the most valuable work you'll do for us. • Test real end-to-end journeys: sign up and pay with a test card, schedule an inspection, complete it as an inspector, claim and finish the resulting repair job as a contractor • Go off the script. Beyond the checklist, we want your judgement: where did a screen confuse you, where did you have to guess what was wanted, where does this feel unfinished? • Verify forms, validations, file/photo uploads and notifications • Run cross-browser checks on Chrome, Safari and Firefox (desktop) plus mobile Safari (iPhone) and mobile Chrome (Android) • File bugs as GitHub Issues using a template we provide (screenshots, steps to reproduce, expected vs actual, role, browser/device, console errors) • Re-test fixes after our developers push changes ── WHAT WE PROVIDE ── • A current, risk-ranked test plan telling you exactly where to start and why • Login credentials for all 6 roles across two separate customer accounts • Pre-seeded sample data (you won't have to build test data) • Payments run in test mode — you'll use test card numbers, no real money moves • A GitHub repo with a ready-made bug-report template (you file and comment on issues; you do NOT get access to our source code) • A Slack or email channel for clarification questions ── WHAT YOU NEED ── • 2+ years of manual QA experience on web applications • Comfortable with role-based testing — verifying each role sees the right things and is blocked from the wrong things • Willing to test negatively: much of this job is confirming the app correctly REFUSES you • Strong written English — your bug reports need to be clear enough for a developer to reproduce the issue without asking follow-up questions • Reliable internet and the ability to test on at least 2 desktop browsers plus a mobile device • Available ~10 hours/week with reasonable turnaround on clarification questions • Bonus: experience testing multi-tenant SaaS, subscription/billing flows, permission systems, or property/field-service software ── HOW THIS STARTS ── • Paid trial: roughly 10 hours against a defined, prioritised slice of the plan • Deliverables: bugs filed as GitHub Issues, plus a short written assessment of overall quality and the biggest pain points you found • The written assessment matters as much as the bug list. We want your read on whether this feels ready for real customers. • If the quality is good, we continue with ongoing weekly hours We track time through UpWork. Please apply only if you'll be doing the testing yourself — no subcontracting or agencies passing work to an unnamed third party.
