Summary

Marketing & Advertising Strategist — Consumer Products & Entertainment I own a small independent media and consumer-products company with a growing portfolio that includes card games, trivia books, and independent films. I'm looking for an experienced, well-rounded **Marketing & Advertising Strategist** to help me organize how I market the portfolio, challenge my thinking, identify new opportunities, and develop strategies for taking individual products to market, keeping them in market, and scaling the ones that show traction. **This is not a digital advertising management position.** I already have resources helping with areas such as Amazon PPC and content production. I'm looking for someone who understands **marketing broadly** — digital, social, advertising, branding, partnerships, B2B, wholesale, grassroots/offline marketing, events, PR, promotions, and other creative ways of reaching customers. I want someone I can bounce ideas off of who will also bring ideas I haven't considered. ## Current Portfolio My current marketing efforts include: * Card games sold primarily through Amazon and direct-to-consumer channels * A new corporate-themed party game launching this fall with potential B2B, corporate gifting, team-building, event, and consumer applications * A catalog of 28 trivia books sold through Amazon * Independent films distributed through major streaming platforms * Organic social content supporting multiple brands * Amazon PPC and small paid-media campaigns * Direct outreach to bookstores, universities, theaters, organizations, and other potential partners * Wholesale and bulk-sales opportunities There are a lot of moving pieces. I don't need someone to simply add more marketing activity. **I need someone who can help me determine which activities deserve more attention, which deserve less, and where the best opportunities are across the portfolio.** ## Initial Project: Portfolio Marketing Architecture The first major deliverable will be helping me develop a **Portfolio Marketing Architecture** covering the major properties within the company. For each property, we should define areas such as: * Target customer/audience * Brand positioning and value proposition * Primary business and marketing objectives * Online acquisition opportunities * Offline acquisition opportunities * Organic marketing channels * Paid marketing channels * B2B/wholesale/partnership opportunities * Current marketing activities and spend * Key performance indicators * Near-term experiments worth testing * Prioritization — what we should focus on now, later, or not at all The goal is to create a practical marketing framework that we can continue using and updating rather than producing a theoretical marketing plan that sits on a shelf. ## Ongoing Relationship After the initial portfolio work, I envision approximately **4–8 hours per month**, including strategy meetings. I want this person to function as a fractional senior marketing advisor: review what's happening across the portfolio, evaluate results, discuss new ideas, identify opportunities, and help determine where time and marketing dollars should go next. I'm an active owner and will continue to execute many initiatives myself. **I am not looking to outsource my marketing department. I am looking for a strong marketing brain to add to it.** ## Who I'm Looking For The ideal candidate: * Is **US-based** * Has significant real-world marketing and advertising experience * Thinks beyond digital advertising * Understands both online and offline customer acquisition * Has experience with consumer products, entertainment/media, B2B marketing, or ideally a combination * Understands branding and positioning * Can identify unconventional partnerships and distribution opportunities * Is comfortable working with a small entrepreneurial company and limited budgets * Can prioritize rather than recommending that we do everything * Is comfortable challenging the owner's ideas when warranted * Is strategic but practical and commercially focused Agency experience is welcome, but I'm specifically looking for an **individual strategist/consultant**, not an agency trying to sell additional services. ## Budget **$50/hour with an expected commitment of approximately 4–8 hours per month.** This is intended to become an ongoing relationship if there is a good fit. ## To Apply Please briefly answer the following: 1. Tell me about your experience developing marketing strategy across multiple products, brands, or business lines. 2. Give me an example of an **offline, partnership, B2B, or unconventional marketing strategy** you've developed — not Google/Meta/Amazon advertising. 3. How would you approach creating a Portfolio Marketing Architecture for a small company selling card games, books, and independent films? 4. What would you expect to accomplish during your first 30 days working with me? Please keep your response concise. I'm much more interested in **how you think about marketing** than receiving a long generic proposal.
