Mathematics Marker & Academic Support Assistant

We are a mathematics tutoring centre based in Sydney, Australia, looking for a reliable remote Mathematics Academic Support Assistant to support our students. This role does not involve teaching classes or delivering lessons. The main focus is marking students’ work, answering mathematics questions, and assisting with academic support tasks. Main Responsibilities: - Mark students’ mathematics homework, worksheets and practice questions - Check students’ working and mathematical reasoning, not just final answers - Identify mistakes and provide short, clear and constructive feedback Answer students’ mathematics questions online - Explain solutions clearly when students are stuck - Follow our provided solutions, marking guidelines and academic standards - Flag students who appear to have significant gaps in understanding - Write and edit mathematical solutions using LaTeX - Format mathematical working and explanations clearly in LaTeX - Assist with minor editing or formatting of mathematics resources when required Mathematics Level The majority of our students are Australian high school students, particularly Years 10–12. Topics may include: Algebra Functions and graphs Trigonometry Calculus Probability Statistics Coordinate geometry Advanced high school mathematics LaTeX Requirements Strong LaTeX skills are required, particularly for mathematical notation and worked solutions. You should be comfortable with: - Reading, writing and editing mathematical expressions in LaTeX - Formatting full worked solutions in LaTeX Work Arrangement: This is an ongoing remote position. The workload may vary each week depending on student homework submissions and academic support requirements. There is potential for significantly more work for someone who is accurate, reliable and works well with our academic team.
