Mechanical CAD Designer for Small Electronics Enclosure Prototype
Worldwide
I need a mechanical CAD designer to create a simple 3D-printable enclosure for a small electronics PCB sensor board. The product is a analog sensor board. The PCB is approximately 38.5 mm x 29 mm, with total length around 41 mm including the board-mounted 3.5 mm female jack. The enclosure should be a small two-piece clamshell case suitable for low-volume 3D printing. It does not need to be injection-molded. The goal is a practical first product prototype that can be printed, assembled, tested, and revised. Preferable to snap close if possible so that when it is printed the board can be placed and then the enclosure snaps. Design requirements: - Two-piece enclosure, preferably screw-closed - Internal PCB support features or ribs - Front opening for the board-mounted 3.5 mm female jack - The 3.5 mm jack should be aligned and mechanically supported so plug insertion does not stress the PCB solder joints - Rear cable exit for a 3.5 mm TRS pigtail cable - Rear hole sized for a small rubber grommet - Internal cable strain relief clamp so cable pull does not transfer to the PCB solder pads - Clean rounded exterior, product-like but simple - Suitable for 3D printing, preferably FDM for first test and SLS/MJF nylon for later low-volume production - The enclosure should be designed for low-volume 3D printing through external printing services, with practical wall thicknesses, clearances, screw features, and tolerances suitable for FDM prototype printing and later SLS/MJF nylon production. Please design the STEP/STL files so they can be sent directly to a 3D printing service with no special hand-finishing required beyond normal support removal, light cleanup, and assembly. And a recommended printer for the formats provided. I can provide: - PCB photos - Datasheet - Measurements - Physical PCB if you are in USA or easily accessible - Rubber grommet sample - 3.5 mm TRS pigtail cable sample Deliverables: - STEP file - STL files for printing - Basic assembly notes - Screw size recommendation - One revision after I test the first printed prototype This is not a complex industrial design project. I need a functional, clean, manufacturable enclosure for a small PCB with a jack opening, cable exit, grommet, and internal strain relief.
