Mechanical CAD Engineer Needed to Create Realistic FreeCAD Engineering Tasks

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical CAD Engineer with strong FreeCAD expertise to develop realistic engineering design tasks focused on machinery and manufacturing applications. The goal is to create practical CAD exercises that simulate real-world mechanical engineering modifications and problem-solving workflows. Each task should begin with an existing CAD model containing a realistic design issue, followed by a corrected and improved final version. Examples may include: • Reinforcing a weak bracket with gussets or geometry changes • Improving clearance on clamps or moving assemblies • Adding mounting holes, cutouts, or ventilation features to enclosures • Modifying fixtures to meet load, stiffness, or deflection requirements • Improving manufacturability through fillets, chamfers, tolerances, or simplification Each deliverable should include: • Original/base FreeCAD model • Corrected final FreeCAD model • Brief written explanation of the engineering issue and design changes • Verification notes explaining how the solution should be checked or validated • CalculiX or PrePoMax simulation setup/results where applicable Ideal Candidate: • Strong hands-on experience with FreeCAD • Solid mechanical engineering and manufacturing knowledge • Familiarity with assemblies, fixtures, brackets, enclosures, clamps, bushings, and structural components • Understanding of manufacturability and practical mechanical design principles • Experience with FEA tools such as CalculiX or PrePoMax is a strong advantage • Ability to create realistic, well-structured engineering tasks and documentation When applying, please include: • Examples of relevant CAD or mechanical design work • FreeCAD projects or portfolios • Any experience with simulation/FEA workflows • Your estimated turnaround time per task
