Mechanical Design Engineer — Cable Rig 3D CAD Model & Fabrication Drawings (SolidWorks)

We're building CoachCube - a self-standing dual cable resistance machine inside a walk-in AI fitness training unit. We are a product and technology team, not engineers, and we need an experienced mechanical design engineer to help us get this right. We know what we want the rig to do. We need you to tell us how to build it properly. We'll share full details over a video call with shortlisted candidates — we're looking for someone who can ask the right questions, challenge our thinking where needed, and take ownership of the engineering decisions. The rig is a steel cable machine: two uprights, a crossbar, diagonal braces, motor housings, and a capstan-driven single cable system per side. We have clear functional requirements but need proper engineering input on the mechanical design before producing fabrication drawings. DELIVERABLES (to be confirmed on call): - 3D assembly model (STEP + SolidWorks or Fusion 360 native) - 2D fabrication drawings to BS 8888 - Weld drawing with BS EN ISO 2553 symbols - Bill of Materials (Excel) WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: - Proven experience with structural steel weldments and fabrication drawings - Experience with pulley systems or gym/fitness equipment is a strong plus - Comfortable working with a non-engineering client — translating requirements into engineering decisions - Will flag issues and suggest improvements, not just execute what we say - Familiar with BS/EN standards - SolidWorks or Fusion 360 proficient
