Medical Biller – Behavioral Health (Medicare Experience Required) I am seeking an experienced behavioral health medical biller to manage the full revenue cycle for a growing private mental health practice. This is an hourly, part-time, as-needed position with the potential for ongoing work as the practice grows. I am looking for someone who can work independently, communicate clearly, and manage the billing process from claim submission through payment resolution. Responsibilities Submit behavioral health claims to Medicare and commercial insurance payers. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits. Review claims for accuracy prior to submission. Track claim status and follow up on unpaid or delayed claims. Resolve claim denials, rejections, and requests for additional information. Submit appeals when appropriate. Post insurance payments and reconcile accounts. Monitor aging accounts receivable and identify billing trends or recurring issues. Provide recommendations to improve claim acceptance and reimbursement. Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality. Coordinate billing with documentation maintained in TherapyNotes, using either TherapyNotes or your own HIPAA-compliant billing workflow. Required Qualifications Proven experience with behavioral health/mental health billing. Strong Medicare billing experience is required. Experience managing denials, appeals, and insurance follow-up. Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and behavioral health billing requirements. Experience with TherapyNotes or another behavioral health EHR/billing platform. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with solo or small group private practices. Experience with commercial behavioral health insurance plans. Familiarity with provider enrollment, credentialing, CAQH, or PECOS is a plus. Ideal Candidate You have experience managing the entire behavioral health billing process and are comfortable working independently. You understand Medicare requirements, proactively resolve billing issues, communicate regularly about outstanding claims, and help maximize reimbursement while maintaining compliance. Work Details Hourly compensation (please include your rate). Part-time/as-needed initially. Flexible schedule. Remote work is acceptable.
