Medical Coder – ICD-10/CPT & Medical Necessity Review (Full-Time, Remote)

Description: We’re looking for a full-time remote medical coding specialist to support our ancillary diagnostic services division (autonomic nervous system/vascular testing). You’ll review patient encounters and progress notes in our EHR system, determine medical necessity, and assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes. This is a full-time monthly contract based on daily workload/volume, not fixed clock-in hours. You’ll need overlap with US Central Time business hours to communicate with providers and technicians, but once your daily queue is cleared, you’re free — early finish is fine, and working ahead of schedule is encouraged. What you’ll do: • Review clinical documentation to support medical necessity for ordered tests • Assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes based on documented findings • Verify CPT code alignment with services ordered • Flag documentation gaps and communicate directly with our US-based providers and technicians • Learn our EHR platform (eClinicalWorks) and internal templates quickly • Manage your own queue proactively — staying ahead of incoming encounters is valued Requirements: • Medical coding background (CPC/CCS certification a strong plus, not mandatory) • Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT • Prior EHR/EMR hands-on experience • Strong spoken and written English • Daily overlap availability during CST business hours for provider/technician communication • Reliable internet Please include in your proposal: your coding certification (if any), which EHR systems you’ve used, and your typical daily CST overlap availability.
