Summary

A medical coder translates healthcare diagnoses, procedures, and services into universal medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) for insurance reimbursement, data tracking, and compliance. Review Documentation: Analyzing patient charts, medical records, and physician notes. Assign Codes: Translating diagnosis and procedure information into standardized codes. Ensure Accuracy/Compliance: Validating coding accuracy for reimbursement while following legal regulations. Must have strong medical terminology and pharmacology. Initial training will be a few weeks, then review of all work for at least 6 months.
