Memoir Book Designer Needed – Standard Edition (Text + Photo Layout, Visually Engaging) Project Overview:
Life Story Lane is looking for an experienced book designer - intermediate level, minimum- to create a Standard Edition memoir that thoughtfully integrates text and photography into a clean, professional, and visually engaging layout. Please note: We also have a Luxury Edition book. The Standard Edition book is a step under that and the more affordable option, however, still expected to be a quality design. The difference will be that it will be a simpler design and the text will be justified left (ragged right) instead of justified. Please refer to our first Standard Edition memoir called The Horizon I Chase…. link below to flipbook.. The design is ok, however, the type setting is poor, and has uneven spacing and scrunching. I am expecting more design variety in this book, as it will also be much longer. I also included screenshots of the level of design I am requiring below and of pull quotes samples that use color, that I would like considered. The budget we have for this project is for a professional Standard Edition NOT Luxury Edition. This is a meaningful life story project, so I’m looking for someone who not only formats text, but also brings a strong sense of design, composition, and visual storytelling to each page. Project Details * Book type: Memoir / life story *I will provide the final print ready manuscript and detailed directions for the photo placement and include captions ready to be copied and pasted into the book. * Approximate length: [150-200 pages TBC before project starts] * Content: Text + personal photographs (70-90 photos TBC) * Layout: This book should be primarily single-column, with occasional two-column sections where appropriate to help allow design (Note: The Horizon I Chase was 2 column only and justified text.) * Font size: 12 pt. * Spacing between lines, NOTE: The Horizon I Chase was double spaced and should NOT have been.
