Metal Deck Detailer

Metal Deck / Steel Deck Detailer (AutoCAD) – Commercial Construction We are seeking an experienced Metal Deck / Steel Deck Detailer to join our growing team. This is a long-term opportunity for someone with experience detailing commercial metal decking systems and preparing accurate 2D shop drawings from structural and architectural construction documents. The ideal candidate has experience with commercial construction projects, understands structural drawings, and can independently produce high-quality shop drawings while coordinating with a Project Manager and Project Coordinator throughout the project. Responsibilities * Review structural drawings, architectural drawings, specifications, proposals, contracts, RFIs, ASIs, bulletins, and other project documents. * Review the complete project scope to ensure all required materials are included. * Prepare detailed AutoCAD shop drawings for: * Roof Deck * Floor Deck/Composite Deck * Cellular Deck * Closure plates * Pour stops * Shear studs * Deformed Bar Anchor/A706 shootable bar * Angle supports at openings * Miscellaneous deck accessories * Coordinate shop drawings with structural steel drawings and architectural requirements. * Review updated plan revisions, RFIs, ASIs, CCDs, and bulletins throughout the project and incorporate all required revisions into the shop drawings. * Notify the Project Manager of any plan changes or impacts resulting from plan revisions, RFIs, ASIs, or other project updates. * Coordinate closely with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator during the detailing process. * Revise drawings based on internal review prior to submitting to the design team. * Incorporate design team review comments and resubmit drawings as required. * After shop drawings are approved, review the approved structural steel erection drawings (“For Construction”) to verify dimensions and make any required adjustments. * Prepare Bills of Material (BOMs) for manufacturing, including: * Sheet length * Bundle marks * Material quantities * Deck accessories * Prepare clean, organized “For Construction” drawing sets for field installation. * Assist with material release sequencing based on the project’s installation schedule. Required Qualifications * Minimum 3 years of experience detailing metal deck, steel deck, or structural steel. * Strong ability to read and interpret structural and architectural construction drawings. * Experience reviewing project specifications. * Advanced AutoCAD proficiency. * Experience producing construction shop drawings. * Ability to perform material takeoffs. * Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. * Strong written and verbal English communication. * Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines. Preferred Experience Experience with one or more of the following is preferred: * Verco * ASC Steel Deck * Epic Metals * New Millennium Knowledge of: * Steel Deck Institute (SDI) standards * Commercial construction detailing * Structural steel coordination * Shop drawing preparation * Material takeoffs * Bills of Material (BOMs) * Construction sequencing Typical Project Workflow 1. Review project plans, specifications, proposal, and contract scope. 2. Perform quantity takeoff. 3. Prepare initial AutoCAD shop drawings. 4. Coordinate with the Project Manager or Project Coordinator. 5. Revise drawings based on internal review. 6. Submit shop drawings for design team review. 7. Incorporate review comments until approved. Notify PM of comments that add cost. 8. Verify dimensions using approved structural steel erection drawings. 9. Prepare Bills of Material. 10. Produce final “For Construction” drawing package. 11. Continue supporting revisions through project completion.
