Mindfulness & Wellbeing AI Research Assistant
Worldwide
About the Role We’re looking for a Mindfulness & Wellbeing AI Research Assistant to help review, evaluate, and improve the next generation of intelligent wellbeing experiences for Insight Timer, the world’s largest meditation and wellness community, with over 30 million users. This role is designed for someone with deep domain knowledge in mindfulness, wellbeing, contemplative practice, movement-based wellness, and the broader consumer wellness landscape. You may come from a research background, be completing or have completed a PhD, or have equivalent expertise across areas such as mindfulness, yoga, Pilates, somatics, breathwork, meditation, stress reduction, emotional wellbeing, behavioral science, or wellness interventions. You’ll work closely with our Head of AI and, where relevant, clinical, research, product, and engineering collaborators to review AI-generated outputs related to meditation, mindfulness, yoga, Pilates, sleep, anxiety, stress, emotional wellbeing, behavior change, and everyday self-care. The main focus of this role is AI output review and research-informed evaluation. You’ll help assess whether AI-generated content is clear, safe, evidence-informed, appropriate for a consumer wellbeing context, and useful for real-world users. This will involve scoring outputs using rubrics, checking claims against research and domain knowledge, identifying unsafe or overstated recommendations, and helping improve prompts, content pathways, and evaluation workflows. This is not a clinical service delivery role, and you will not be providing therapy, medical advice, or making unsupervised clinical decisions. It is a research, review, and evaluation role focused on improving AI-powered wellbeing products through strong evidence judgment, deep wellness expertise, and practical understanding of how people engage with mindfulness and movement practices in everyday life. We are open to part-time or full-time candidates, depending on experience, availability, and fit. This could be a strong fit for someone with academic, research, teaching, or applied experience in mindfulness, meditation, yoga, Pilates, somatic practice, wellbeing science, psychology, behavioral science, public health, digital health, or related fields. If you’re thoughtful, evidence-minded, deeply familiar with the wellness space, comfortable using AI tools, and excited by the idea of helping improve wellbeing products used by millions of people, we’d love to meet you. About Insight Timer Imagine a platform which could amplify something as simple as your attendance into deep transformational shifts for humanity. A place where showing up was enough. Where each individual visit combined with millions more to trigger huge waves of health and happiness around the world. What would such a platform look like? Could you even build it? And more importantly, how would you protect it from becoming another Instagram, TikTok or Twitter which magnify the very worst of us. If we can answer these questions, we believe Insight Timer’s community will emerge as one of the most important companies of the 21st century. A place, not a product, which is capable of reversing the modern day health pandemic by harmonising the human spirit before problems arise. And if we get there, well, the opportunities are endless. Imagine a modern-day renaissance where health, belonging and purpose become the new definitions of happiness for hundreds of millions of people around the world, including you. And all you need to do is show up. About You * You have strong research, academic, teaching, or applied expertise in mindfulness, meditation, yoga, Pilates, somatic practice, wellbeing science, behavioral science, psychology, public health, or a related field. * You may have a PhD, be completing a PhD, or have equivalent research and domain experience in the wellness space. * You have deep familiarity with one or more areas adjacent to Insight Timer, such as mindfulness, contemplative practice, yoga, Pilates, breathwork, sleep, stress reduction, emotional regulation, resilience, self-compassion, habit formation, or holistic wellbeing. * You understand how to evaluate evidence, including study quality, strength of findings, limitations, practical relevance, and where claims go beyond what the evidence supports. * You can think carefully about safety, accessibility, indications, contraindications, and the limits of general wellbeing recommendations. * You understand that wellness content can affect people differently depending on their physical health, mental health, trauma history, culture, level of experience, and personal context. * You are comfortable checking claims against research and identifying when something is unsupported, exaggerated, unclear, too prescriptive, or potentially unsafe. * You have strong judgment about the difference between evidence-based guidance, practice-informed wisdom, emerging research, and speculative wellness claims. * You are detail-oriented and comfortable doing careful review work across many examples or AI outputs. * You can use structured rubrics and apply consistent judgment across repeated evaluation tasks. * You write clearly and can explain your reasoning in plain language. * You are comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar systems for research, synthesis, review, and day-to-day work. * You are interested in how AI can be used responsibly in meditation, mindfulness, movement, wellbeing, and consumer health products. * You are organised, thoughtful, and able to bring structure to ambiguous questions. * You care deeply about helping people live healthier, calmer, and more meaningful lives. Nice to Have * PhD, PhD candidacy, master’s degree, or equivalent research experience in mindfulness, wellbeing science, psychology, behavioral science, public health, movement science, contemplative studies, exercise science, somatics, or a related field. * Experience reviewing or summarising academic papers, intervention studies, clinical guidance, or health and wellbeing evidence. * Experience working as a research assistant, research fellow, lecturer, academic, evaluator, or in a structured research environment. * Experience teaching, designing, studying, or evaluating yoga, Pilates, meditation, mindfulness, breathwork, somatic, or wellbeing programs. * Formal training or certification in yoga, Pilates, mindfulness, meditation, somatic practice, breathwork, or adjacent wellness disciplines. * Familiarity with digital health, mental health technology, consumer wellbeing products, online courses, guided programs, or app-based interventions. * Experience using AI tools for research, synthesis, prompt testing, output review, or evaluation. * Experience with prompt testing, AI output review, model comparison, annotation, or structured evaluation workflows. * Experience creating evidence summaries, literature reviews, annotated bibliographies, research briefs, or internal guidance documents. * Strong understanding of both academic evidence and the practical realities of how people engage with consumer wellbeing products in everyday life. * Comfort working with spreadsheets, annotation tools, scoring systems, content management systems, or structured review processes. * Interest in supporting internal research, publication-related work, and the broader research agenda for Insight Timer over time. * Strong curiosity, humility, and willingness to work across research, product, AI, content, and wellbeing domains.
