Project Overview We are seeking an experienced software and systems engineer to lead the development of a next-generation mobile roadway data collection platform integrating: Ouster LiDAR sensors Trimble GNSS/INS systems AI-assisted roadway asset extraction Mobile mapping workflows Georeferenced point cloud processing Real-time and post-processed infrastructure analysis Our company has more than 30 years of experience in roadway infrastructure data collection, pavement management, GIS, and transportation asset management systems. We are modernizing and expanding our mobile mapping and AI-based collection systems for future integration into our ICON™ infrastructure management platform. This is not a simple coding project. We are looking for a technical lead who understands mobile mapping architecture, sensor integration, geospatial processing, and scalable software design. Primary Objectives The selected consultant/team will help design and lead development of: Field Collection Platform Real-time collection of: Ouster LiDAR data GNSS/RTK positioning IMU/INS data Cameras and imagery Optional vehicle encoder inputs Synchronized timestamping and logging High-speed storage architecture Ruggedized mobile deployment workflows Sensor Integration Experience integrating: Ouster SDK ROS2 / ROS middleware Trimble GNSS systems Applanix POSPac workflows (preferred) GPS/INS trajectory processing Point cloud generation and alignment Processing & Data Management LAS/LAZ generation Point cloud processing Georeferencing workflows QA/QC tools Cloud and local storage pipelines Metadata management Future AI Integration Long-term objectives include: Real-time or near real-time processing of mobile roadway collected infrastructure The initial phase may include: Architecture recommendations Hardware/software stack recommendations Collection software framework Sensor synchronization strategy Data storage design Processing pipeline recommendations Prototype collection application Workflow documentation Existing Environment Our existing systems include: Future AI-assisted analysis for roadway initiatives
