Monthly Bookkeeping Review / Audit for a Construction Company (QuickBooks Online)

I'm looking for an experienced construction accounting professional to do a monthly review/audit of the books for a construction client of mine. This is not day-to-day bookkeeping — the client already has a bookkeeper handling transaction coding and data entry. I need a second set of expert eyes to review their work each month, catch errors, and flag issues before financials are finalized. This is a recurring monthly engagement, not a one-time project. What you'll do each month: Review QuickBooks Online transactions for coding accuracy, with a focus on proper COGS vs. overhead/admin classification (labor, materials, equipment rental, subcontractors, etc.) Verify job costing is applied correctly across projects Review payroll allocations between direct labor (COGS) and administrative labor Spot-check vendor categorization for consistency (equipment rental vendors, material suppliers, subcontractors) Reconcile bank and credit card feeds Identify and flag misclassified transactions, duplicate entries, or unusual variances Review Accounts Payable and A/P aging for accuracy Provide a short written summary of findings and recommended corrections each month Communicate directly with the client's existing bookkeeper to resolve flagged items What I'm looking for: Proven experience with construction industry accounting specifically — job costing, WIP, COGS classification for labor/materials/equipment. General bookkeeping experience alone won't be a fit. Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online Comfortable reviewing another bookkeeper's work diplomatically and documenting discrepancies clearly Detail-oriented, solid understanding of accrual-basis accounting U.S. construction accounting/tax context preferred CPA, EA, or bookkeeping certification a plus but not required Please don't apply if you're only looking for one-off projects — I need someone available for an ongoing monthly review.
