Municipal Engineering Pursuits, 30-Minute Research Interview

This is a standalone paid research interview—not an engineering design project, employment opportunity, lead-generation assignment, or sales pitch. I am seeking current or recent owners, principals, municipal market leaders, client-service leaders, or business-development leaders from small/midsize U.S. civil or municipal engineering consulting firms. To qualify, you must have personally participated before award in deciding whether to pursue a municipality or public utility that your firm had not previously served. The public agency must have been the firm’s direct engineering client. Experience serving private developers who needed municipal permits or approvals does not qualify. Preferred background: - Civil/municipal consulting firm with approximately 5–250 employees - Direct city, town, public-utility, or similar local public-agency clients - Public works, water/wastewater, transportation, traffic, stormwater, drainage, utilities, or related infrastructure - Personal participation in client development, pursuit qualification, or go/no-go decisions - Ability to discuss one specific occurrence from approximately the last two years The interview is 30 minutes. No preparation is required. I will not request client names, confidential information, engineering advice, or proprietary proposal material. Camera may remain off. With your explicit consent at the start of the call, I will record the audio solely to prepare an accurate research transcript. The recording will not be published or shared. Compensation is a $50 fixed-price Upwork contract, paid in full after the completed interview regardless of your opinions or whether the research hypothesis is supported.
