Role Overview: The Senior .NET Modernization Consultant will act as the technical authority for the modernization initiative. You will: Define the end-to-end migration architecture Lead solution design decisions Guide engineering teams through implementation Interface directly with stakeholders Mitigate technical risks throughout delivery Ensure long-term maintainability of the modernized solution Key Responsibilities: Solution Architecture & Design Own the modernization architecture across both migration workstreams Design the WWF3 to WF4 migration approach Define EF6 adoption strategy and abstraction layer Create coexistence architecture supporting legacy and modern workflows Design routing mechanisms between workflow engines Define workflow persistence, activity models, bookmarks, and state reconstruction strategies Technical Leadership: Produce architecture and solution design documentation Define implementation standards and sprint-level technical guidance Conduct architecture reviews throughout delivery Mentor engineering teams on modernization patterns Identify and resolve technical risks before implementation Client Engagement: Serve as the primary technical advisor Present architecture decisions to technical and business stakeholders Participate in solution reviews and milestone planning Review Statements of Work (SOWs) and acceptance criteria Support validation teams with technical documentation suitable for regulated environments Quality & Risk Management: Define migration validation strategy Lead performance benchmarking between LINQ-to-SQL and EF6 Design replay-based testing for workflow migration Develop WF3 retirement strategy and runbook Contribute to monitoring and performance remediation guidance Required Experience: Candidates must demonstrate hands-on delivery experience in the following areas: Windows Workflow Foundation Modernization Production migration from WWF3 to WF4 Workflow persistence Activity model redesign Bookmark and resumption strategies Entity Framework Migration LINQ-to-SQL to Entity Framework (EF4/EF5/EF6) Refactoring tightly coupled data layers Repository abstraction DbContext migration Legacy .NET Modernization ASP.NET Web Forms .NET Framework 4.x applications Refactoring legacy enterprise applications without complete rewrites.
