Summary

We are seeking an experienced SBIR/STTR grant consultant and scientific writer to support funding strategy and proposal development for two early-stage medical technology projects. The projects involve technologies in the areas of medical devices, digital health, physiological monitoring, and diagnostic/sensing technologies. Both projects have existing technical development and preliminary research supporting feasibility. We are looking for someone who can do more than simply write a grant. The ideal consultant will help us: * Identify and evaluate the best current federal funding opportunities for each project * Assess fit across NIH institutes and other agencies, including NIH, NSF, and other relevant federal programs * Identify appropriate SBIR/STTR solicitations, NOFOs, and translational research opportunities * Recommend the strongest funding and submission strategy * Determine whether each project is ready for Phase I submission * Refine the technical scope, Specific Aims, milestones, and commercialization strategy * Develop competitive SBIR/STTR applications * Support proposal preparation through final submission ### Initial Scope We would like to begin with a funding and grant-readiness assessment for both projects. Initial deliverables should include: 1. Review of non-confidential project summaries and available preliminary research 2. Identification and ranking of relevant funding opportunities 3. Recommended funding agency/institute and solicitation for each project 4. Assessment of SBIR/STTR eligibility and competitiveness 5. Recommended Phase I project scope 6. Preliminary Specific Aims 7. Identification of technical or proposal gaps that should be addressed before submission 8. Recommended submission timeline A successful initial engagement may expand into development of the full SBIR/STTR application(s). ### Ideal Background Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in: * NIH SBIR/STTR applications * NSF SBIR/STTR or other federal small-business funding * Medical devices * Digital health / SaMD * Diagnostics, biosensors, or physiological monitoring * Translational biomedical research * FDA-regulated product development * Commercialization strategy Experience with NIH institutes such as NIDDK, NINDS, NIBIB, or related institutes is particularly valuable. Please include examples of relevant SBIR/STTR experience, funding success rate where available, agencies/institutes you have worked with, and your proposed approach for identifying the best funding opportunities for early-stage medical technologies. Detailed technical information will be provided to shortlisted candidates following appropriate confidentiality arrangements.
