Position: NOC Level 2 – Network Engineer Work Arrangement: Full-time, Remote Work Hours: Weekend Night Shift - Saturday-Sunday 4PM-1AM CST Rate: $15-$22/hour Industry: Telecommunications / Networking / WISP About the Role: We are looking for a highly skilled and self-motivated Network & Systems Engineer (Level 2) to join our growing team. This is a highly technical position responsible for delivering expert support in a complex, multi-vendor environment. You will act as a key escalation point for technical issues, working closely with internal teams and customers to ensure timely and efficient resolution. Your primary responsibility will be handling break-fix network issues escalated by L1 support. In many cases. You must be able to assess issues quickly, determine appropriate resolution paths, and lead efforts to restore service with minimal downtime. This role will require a strong working knowledge of wireless PtP/PtMP networks, fiber and coax infrastructure, and Wi-Fi access systems. Responsibilities: Technical Duties • Configure, troubleshoot, and manage MikroTik routers, access points, backhaul radios, and LTE/WiFi CPEs • Troubleshoot and support wireless PtP/PtMP, fiber, coax, and other distribution network technologies. • Troubleshoot 5GHz outdoor WiFi performance issues (e.g., interference, channel utilization, signal degradation) • Coordinate and troubleshoot with contracted remote hands to resolve issues requiring onsite intervention. • Manage and troubleshoot access and subscription management platforms (e.g., GoZone, Sonar, or similar) • Conduct RF analysis, site surveys, and performance tuning • Monitor and maintain NMS platforms, ensuring data accuracy and relevance • Perform daily system checks and proactively address network issues • Maintain detailed documentation and knowledge base articles in Confluence • Resolve escalated tickets with a focus on maintenance and break-fix tasks • Collaborate with L1 and L3 teams to resolve escalated issues efficiently Administrative & Customer-Facing Tasks • Communicate with customers or other contacts via phone/email to resolve high-priority issues as needed • Coordinate with vendors and escalate issues requiring external resolution • Schedule and document field dispatches • Draft scopes of work and develop MOPs for field resources and L2 staff • Participate in engineering team meetings, other assigned projects, and other ad hoc tasks Qualifications & Requirements: • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Network Engineering • Verifiable certifications (e.g., MikroTik, Cisco, or equivalent) • Proven work history with documentation (certificate of employment, offer letters, etc.) • Demonstrated advanced technical expertise in network design and troubleshooting, with proven hands-on experience in wireless technologies including WiFi and point-to-point/point-to-multipoint (PtP/PtMP) systems - this experience is REQUIRED for this role. • Experience with network virtualization and Linux development is a strong plus • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail • Ability to self-manage in a fully remote work setting • Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills • Previous leadership experience is a strong advantage • Stable high-speed internet connection with a reliable backup for power, connectivity, and work device.
