Native English (US) Script Proofreader / Quality Checker – Ongoing, High Volume
Worldwide
We're a fast-paced performance marketing agency producing short-form video ad scripts (UGC-style, 9x16 vertical) for supplement brands sold in the US. We're looking for a detail-oriented proofreader/QC editor who is a native speaker of American English (or has deep, native-level fluency in US grammar, punctuation, spelling, and colloquial tone) to review scripts before they go into production. This is not a content-writing role, you won't be writing scripts from scratch. You'll be reviewing scripts we've already written and catching anything that would make them sound "off" to an American audience, plus tightening grammar and punctuation for clarity and natural spoken flow. What You'll Be Reviewing: - Short-form (25–120 second) video ad scripts written in a conversational, talking-head/UGC style - Scripts formatted with sections (Hook, Problem, Agitation, Discovery, Mechanism, CTA) - Voiceover-ready copy with pacing/emphasis markup (pauses, emphasis, trailing sentences, etc.) Responsibilities: - Proofread scripts for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors - Flag any phrasing, idioms, or sentence structures that don't sound like natural American spoken English - Check that punctuation supports natural pacing for voiceover read-throughs (commas, dashes, ellipses used correctly and consistently) - Verify tone is conversational and "real person talking," not stiff or overly formal - Confirm consistency in brand names, product names, and standard phrasing across scripts - Return scripts with tracked changes / comments, or a clean corrected version depending on preference - Flag scripts that need a full rewrite vs. a light edit Requirements: - Native American English speaker, or someone who has lived in the US long enough to have fully native command of US grammar, punctuation, spelling, and everyday spoken phrasing — this is essential, not a nice-to-have - Strong grasp of US punctuation conventions (comma usage, em dashes, ellipses, quotation marks, capitalization for emphasis, etc.) - Prior experience proofreading, copyediting, or QC'ing marketing/ad copy, scripts, or similar short-form content - Ability to read text and instinctively hear how it would sound when spoken out loud - Comfortable working with Google Docs / Google Sheets for tracking and handoff Fast turnaround — able to review batches of scripts (10–30+ at a time) within a agreed window Reliable communicator, responsive during agreed working hours Nice to Have - Experience with direct-response or UGC-style advertising copy - Familiarity with voiceover/text-to-speech production workflows - Background in copywriting or content editing for social media ads (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) Project Type - Ongoing, recurring work (not a one-time gig) — expect batches daily - Compensation: $250 - Estimated volume: 7 -10 scripts a day How to Apply Please include: - A short note on your background in proofreading/editing US-market content - Confirmation of your location and native English fluency - A sample of a script or ad copy you've proofread/edited (before and after, if possible) - Your availability and typical turnaround time for a batch of 20–30 short scripts We're looking to bring someone on quickly and build a long-term working relationship if it's a good fit.
