Native German E-Commerce Reviewer: Audit Our Website Before Launch

Posted 2 weeks ago

Summary

About the project We're a haircare brand launching into the Germany market. Our site is translated into German and the funnel is built. Before we drive paid traffic to it, we want a native German reviewer with an e-commerce or marketing background to go through the site and tell us honestly what's working, what's off, and what would lose us conversions with local buyers. This is not a UX audit and we don't need formal methodology. It's a sharp, opinionated review from someone who understands both the Germany online buyer AND how e-commerce sites actually convert. What you'll review Language and tone. Does the German copy read like a confident local brand, or does it read like a translated foreign brand? Flag stiff phrasing, wrong register for premium haircare, anything that signals "not from here." Specifically: would a local shopper trust the brand voice? Payment methods and checkout. Are the payment providers local buyers expect actually present at checkout? What's missing that would cause drop-off? Walk through the full checkout as if you were buying — address fields, phone format, shipping options, return policy presentation. Flag anything that would make a local buyer hesitate or abandon. Product pages. Look at 2-3 product pages and assess: pricing presentation, ingredient/benefit structure, photography style, claims, CTA placement, social proof, urgency mechanics. Are these aligned with what local premium brands do, or do they feel foreign? Site structure and flow. From homepage to checkout — does the journey make sense? Are there friction points? Missing trust signals? Confusing navigation? Things a local buyer would expect that aren't there? Trust signals specific to Germany. Legal pages, reviews format, certifications, cookie banner, contact info, shipping/return clarity. What does a local buyer need to see to trust an unknown brand? Conversion observations. As someone who understands how e-commerce works, where do you see the biggest conversion risks? Where would you bet money is being left on the table? What we want back A written report in English (Google Doc or PDF) covering: Findings per area above, with screenshots where helpful Specific, actionable recommendations — not just "this is wrong" but "here's what it should say or look like, and why" Priority ranking: must-fix before paid traffic / should-fix soon / nice-to-have Overall verdict: how close is this site to ready for paid traffic in Germany? What are the 3 highest-impact changes? Timeline: Delivery within 5 business days of starting. Budget: [SET PER MARKET — see ranges below] Who we're looking for (must-haves) Native German speaker, currently living in Germany E-commerce or digital marketing background — examples of acceptable experience: Worked at a Germany online retailer or DTC brand Run paid traffic, email marketing, or CRO for local e-commerce Conversion copywriter or content strategist for online stores Freelance marketer with e-commerce client portfolio Built or managed a local Shopify/WooCommerce store Comfortable giving sharp, opinionated, specific feedback Writes clear English for the report Nice-to-haves Beauty, cosmetics, haircare, or premium DTC experience Localization work for international brands entering Germany Shopify familiarity How to apply In your application, please answer these four questions: 1. Where are you based, and what's your professional background in e-commerce or marketing? 2. Name 2-3 Germany online shops you'd consider best-in-class for a premium consumer brand. What specifically makes them work? 3. What's one thing foreign brands consistently get wrong when launching into Germany? 4. Share a quick example of an e-commerce review, audit, or conversion improvement you've done — even informal. One paragraph is enough. Applications without all four answers won't be reviewed. We want to see your thinking and your background, not just a CV.
