Summary

Title: Storyboard / animatic director needed for short 2D comedy episodes I am looking for a storyboard / animatic artist who can help direct short 2D animated episodes before they go into final animation. This is not a full animation job. The final animation is already handled by another team. I need someone who can work between the script and the animation team, to make the episodes more alive, better paced, and less flat. The series is based on two animal characters. The humor comes from dialogue, facial reactions, pauses, silence, timing, small visual ideas, and the contrast between what humans say and what animals understand. The current problem is that the animation team follows the script too literally. If the script says “pause”, they make a technical pause. If the script says “visual effect”, they add an effect, but it does not always support the scene. I need someone who can understand the intention behind the script and turn it into clear visual direction. For each episode, I need a simple but useful direction document, including: 1. Shot-by-shot structure. 2. Approximate timing for important shots. 3. Where the pauses should happen and what they should create: comedy, awkwardness, tension, tenderness, or surprise. 4. Key facial expressions and character reactions. 5. Moments where the cut should be fast. 6. Moments where the scene should breathe. 7. Simple visual ideas that can improve the scene. 8. Visual effects to use. 9. Visual effects to avoid. 10. The 3 most important moments the animation team must not miss. You do not need to create clean artwork. Rough sketches, simple thumbnails, timing notes, or a very simple animatic are enough if they help the animation team understand the scene. The goal is not beauty. The goal is rhythm, comedy timing, emotional timing, and clear direction. For this first test, I have 4-5 short episodes, around 1 minute 20 each Budget for this test batch: 100 € for 4 episodes. If the result is useful and improves the final animation, this can become regular work. Please apply only if you understand character acting, comedy timing, visual storytelling, and short animated scenes. In your application, please answer these 4 questions: 1. Can you show one example where you worked on comedy timing, storyboard, animatic, or character acting? 2. How would you make a simple pause feel funny instead of empty? 3. Are you comfortable creating direction for another animation team to execute? 4. For one 2-minute episode, what would you deliver exactly within this budget? Important: I am not looking for someone who only follows instructions literally. I need someone who can read the script, understand the hidden intention, and make the scene stronger before animation starts. Budget is limited for this first test, so I do not expect clean final artwork. I expect clear direction, timing, rough sketches or simple thumbnails that can help the animation team
