Network Architect Needed for SMB Network Refresh & ISP Migration Planning Overview Vertex Tech Management is seeking an experienced Network Architect or Senior Network Engineer to review an existing small business network environment and validate a planned infrastructure refresh before equipment is purchased. This is a design review and planning engagement, not a hands-on implementation project. Successful completion may lead to future project-based engineering opportunities involving firewall deployments, network refreshes, ISP migrations, and infrastructure projects for additional clients. Environment • Veterinary office environment • Approximately 10 endpoints • Windows domain environment • Cornerstone Practice Management System • Existing AT&T Business Internet • Comcast Business service currently being deployed • Existing consumer-grade firewall/router • Existing managed Dell switch • Flat network topology Project Goals • Review existing network assessment documentation • Validate firewall replacement recommendation • Validate switch replacement recommendation • Review network design and scalability • Review opportunities for VLAN segmentation • Identify risks related to ISP migration • Create a deployment and cutover strategy • Provide final bill of materials Current Preliminary Recommendations Firewall: Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Ultra Switch: Ubiquiti USW Lite 16 PoE or Ubiquiti USW 24 PoE The selected engineer is expected to validate or revise these recommendations based on their review. Required Deliverables 1. Written review of existing network assessment. 2. Firewall recommendation with justification. 3. Switch recommendation with justification. 4. Recommendation regarding 16-port versus 24-port switching. 5. VLAN and segmentation recommendations. 6. Comcast migration considerations and risks. 7. Recommended cutover sequence. 8. Final bill of materials. Requirements • Strong SMB networking experience • Experience with firewall deployments • Experience with VLAN design and implementation • Experience with Windows Server environments • Experience with ISP migrations • Strong written communication skills • Ability to provide clear documentation and recommendations Preferred Experience • Ubiquiti • Comcast Business • Veterinary, healthcare, or professional office environments • MSP experience Important This engagement is for engineering review and planning only. • This is a project-based independent contractor engagement. • The selected contractor will be required to execute Vertex Tech Management's contractor agreement, including confidentiality, intellectual property assignment, and non-solicitation provisions prior to receiving client documentation. • All work product, recommendations, documentation, diagrams, configurations, and deliverables produced as part of this engagement shall become the property of Vertex Tech Management. • All client communications will be coordinated through Vertex Tech Management.
