Newsletter Copywriter & Content Lead Role Overview We are looking for an excellent **Newsletter Copywriter & Content Lead** to help us write, develop, and improve our newsletter content. This role is not just about writing good copy. We need someone who understands newsletters as a strategic marketing channel: a way to build trust, grow an audience, support campaigns, generate leads, and move readers further along the customer journey. The right person will be able to write strong subject lines, engaging newsletter articles, clear calls to action, and email content that people genuinely want to open, read, and return to. They will also think carefully about the purpose and impact of each newsletter, including what we want the reader to think, feel, click, reply to, or do next. We are looking for someone with excellent writing ability, strong marketing awareness, and the confidence to take ownership of the newsletter content strategy. Key Responsibilities * Write engaging, high-quality newsletter copy that people want to open, read, and return to. * Create strong subject lines, preview text, hooks, articles, and calls to action. * Repurpose existing content, including blogs, YouTube scripts, lead magnets, internal notes, news updates, and wider marketing materials. * Turn complex information into clear, useful, interesting newsletter content. * Write about timely news, industry updates, and relevant current topics in a thoughtful and audience-focused way. * Think strategically about the purpose, message, reader journey, and desired impact of each newsletter. * Help develop newsletter themes, recurring sections, article ideas, formats, and content angles. * Build trust, loyalty, repeat readership, and meaningful engagement over time. * Connect newsletter content to wider marketing goals, including campaigns, lead magnets, enquiries, videos, articles, replies, bookings, and conversions. * Review performance and suggest improvements to subject lines, content themes, article formats, calls to action, layout, structure, and reader experience. * Take ownership of the newsletter content process and help improve it over time. Essential Skills & Experience * Excellent copywriting skills, especially for newsletters and email content. * Experience writing newsletters, email campaigns, editorial-style email content, or audience-building email content. * Strong understanding of subject lines, preview text, hooks, structure, calls to action, and reader engagement. * Ability to turn long-form, complex, or detailed information into clear and engaging newsletter copy. * Good understanding of audience psychology, reader motivation, and what makes people engage with content. * Strong marketing awareness and understanding of how newsletters support a wider funnel and customer journey. * Ability to think strategically about the purpose, impact, and outcome of each newsletter. * Confidence to suggest ideas, angles, improvements, and strategic changes. * Comfortable reviewing performance data and making practical recommendations. * Excellent written English, grammar, tone, and attention to detail. * Reliable, organised, proactive, and able to take ownership of recurring content. Nice-to-Have Skills * Experience growing a newsletter audience. * Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, Klaviyo, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, or similar. * Experience writing for service-based businesses, legal, energy, finance, property, consumer rights, or complex advisory sectors. * Experience writing lead magnet copy, nurture emails, campaign emails, or conversion-focused content. * Experience reviewing email metrics such as open rate, click-through rate, unsubscribe rate, replies, leads, and conversions. * Experience building or refining a newsletter content calendar.
