Executive Overview This document defines the proposed direction for revamping an existing B2B platform into an Odoo-centered SaaS operating system for wholesale and distribution businesses. The target solution combines commerce, CRM, sales operations, inventory, procurement, finance, fulfilment, and AI-enabled workflows into one modular operating environment. The proposal assumes Odoo will serve as the transactional and process backbone for core ERP and commerce operations, while custom services, APIs, UI components, and AI orchestration layers will extend Odoo where required for differentiated SaaS capabilities. Business Objective The platform is intended to solve the recurring pain points faced by wholesalers and distributors, including multi-warehouse stock visibility, complex pricing, quotation cycles, customer-specific terms, logistics coordination, and fragmented finance and CRM workflows. The end goal is a unified system that reduces manual effort, improves conversion and fulfilment speed, and supports future-scale SaaS commercialization. Recommended Architecture Direction The recommended direction is an Odoo-centered modular architecture with separate tenant databases for production-grade SaaS isolation, shared application code, common core modules, and a governed customization layer. This is generally more appropriate than relying only on Odoo’s native multi-company setup when the product vision requires stronger tenant separation, differentiated branding, commercial packaging, and controlled extensibility. Proposed architecture layers · Presentation layer: customer-facing website, portal, back-office UI, partner dashboards, and mobile-responsive interfaces. · Odoo core layer: CRM, Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Accounting, Website/eCommerce, Helpdesk or support-related workflows, and document/approval processes. · SaaS orchestration layer: tenant provisioning, subscription controls, environment setup, branding configuration, monitoring, billing controls, and release orchestration. · Integration layer: payment gateways, shipping providers, ERP connectors, email, WhatsApp, telephony, social channels, and external data sources through APIs. · AI services layer: product enrichment, prospect intelligence, follow-up recommendations, quotation drafting, support assistance, analytics insights, and workflow copilots. · Data and analytics layer: transactional reporting, customer dashboards, performance KPIs, forecasting, and audit trails. Delivery Strategy A phased approach is strongly recommended because the platform vision spans ERP, eCommerce, CRM, communications, logistics, and AI capabilities.
