Onshape CAD Precision Side Brace+Bearing Cup for Nano17 Multi-Axis MAV Test Stand (24hr Turnaround)

Summary

This is an ultra-precision, low-friction laboratory test fixture used to capture micro-aerodynamic force and torque data for a Micro-Aerial Vehicle (MAV). The rig physically couples a specialized multi-axis transducer (ATI Nano17 6-Axis Force/Torque Sensor) to a miniature magnetic ball-and-socket pivot joint. The fixture isolates rotational freedom (pitch, roll, yaw) while remaining rigidly constrained in translation to accurately transmit all linear forces and torques (Fx, Fy, Fz, Tx, Ty, Tz) directly down to the sensor. Refine and add to an existing, partially started CAD assembly (mainly just with required measurements) for the primary thrust stand. Design a secondary, highly rigid side support brace/stand that attaches near the bearing cup assembly. This brace must act as a precise mechanical limit constraint, allowing the MAV to tilt freely up to 5 degrees in any direction before engaging a hard stop. You must also be able to model a zero-gap, conformal slip-fit for the ball-and-socket joint to completely eliminate mechanical play and data-corrupting impact noise (This is a ball bearing that will be attached to the MAV and will capture forces and torques). Maximize structural rigidity across the entire assembly while strictly minimizing component mass to maximize the sensor's usable dynamic range. Account for 3D-printing tolerances, including specific material shrinkage and expansion rates (PLA and SLA Resin). Maintain aerodynamically streamlined profiles to prevent rotor downwash interference. One-time project requiring a fast, highly productive turnaround. Timeline: Strict 24-hour completion window from the time of hiring. Sourcing, interviewing, and selection must happen immediately today. Payment & Scope: This is a streamlined, highly focused project estimated to take a few hours at maximum for an experienced designer. It will be billed on an hourly structure under a strict, non-negotiable maximum budget ceiling around 40$. Next Steps: Candidates must be open to design iterations if initial manufacturing test prints require adjustments. Critical dimensions and finalized source files will be handed over immediately upon a brief initial meeting. The attached Onshape file is everything that has already been CADed with fixed measurements. The only thing that might have to be adjusted is the yellow thrust stand to fit with the rigid side support. and include the socket joint that allows the ball bearing to spin but captures all its forces and torques.
