# PCB Design for ESP32-Based Main Motherboard — Phase 1 I am developing a custom hardware product and looking for an experienced PCB designer to design the **main motherboard** for the first phase of the project. ## Project Overview The motherboard will be based on an **ESP32-WROOM module** and should provide a clean, compact, production-ready hardware design. The board should include: * **ESP32-WROOM module** as the main MCU * **9-pin FPC/FCC connector** * The 9 pins will be internally connected to selected ESP32 GPIO/interface pins * Exact pin mapping and interface requirements will be discussed before schematic finalization * **USB Type-C port** * Battery charging * Firmware flashing / data upload to ESP32 * Required USB-to-UART circuitry if needed for the selected ESP32-WROOM variant * **One physical button** * Exact function/pin mapping can be finalized during design * **One status indicator LED** * Connected to ESP32 and controllable through firmware * **Motion/orientation sensor** * Accelerometer/gyroscope functionality for detecting device orientation changes * Connected to ESP32, preferably through I²C or another suitable interface * Must support an interrupt-based wake-up mechanism so that orientation/motion change can wake the ESP32 from low-power sleep * Sensor selection can be proposed by the designer based on low power consumption, availability, cost, and suitability ## Power Requirements The product will be battery-powered. The PCB design should include an appropriate power architecture for: * Rechargeable Li-ion/Li-Po battery input * USB Type-C charging * Safe battery charging circuitry * Stable power supply for ESP32 and onboard components * Low-power operation * Proper decoupling, filtering, and protection where required Battery connector type and exact battery specifications can be finalized during the design discussion. ## Scope of Work I need the freelancer to provide: * Complete schematic design * Component selection and review * PCB layout and routing * Proper ESP32 RF/antenna layout considerations * Power integrity and decoupling * USB Type-C implementation * Battery charging circuit * Motion sensor interrupt/wake-up circuit * Design Rule Check (DRC) * Electrical Rule Check (ERC) * Manufacturing-ready Gerber files * Drill files * BOM with manufacturer part numbers * Pick-and-place / CPL files * Editable source design files * Basic bring-up/test-point recommendations ## Important Design Considerations * Compact PCB design * Reliable ESP32 operation * Correct RF antenna placement and keep-out area * Low-power battery operation * Components should preferably be easily sourceable * Design should be suitable for prototype assembly and future small-scale production * Avoid unnecessary component cost and complexity ## Firmware Firmware development is **not required**. I will handle the ESP32 firmware myself. The freelancer is responsible for ensuring that all required hardware connections, interrupts, programming interfaces, charging circuitry, and wake-up functionality are correctly designed. ## Future Phase This is **Phase 1** of the project. Phase 2 will involve designing a separate e-paper display controller/power board that will connect to this motherboard through the 9-pin FPC interface. A freelancer who successfully completes Phase 1 may also be considered for Phase 2. ## Ideal Freelancer Looking for someone with practical experience in: * ESP32 hardware design * Battery-powered embedded products * USB Type-C * Li-ion/Li-Po charging circuits * Low-power PCB design * Accelerometer/gyroscope integration * Interrupt-based wake-up systems * FPC/FCC connectors * PCB design for manufacturing Please share examples of similar ESP32 or battery-powered PCB projects you have previously completed.
