PCB Layout Engineer (KiCad 10) – Schematic Optimization & High-Quality PCB Design

Job Overview We are looking for an experienced KiCad 10 PCB Design Engineer to support our engineering team on a long-term basis. Your primary responsibilities will be optimizing existing schematics and creating professional PCB layouts for industrial electronics. We develop measurement, automation, and embedded hardware for industrial applications, with a strong focus on high-performance and real-time capable systems. Our designs are centered around the LFE5U-25F-6BG256 FPGA, which we primarily use due to its higher performance, multiple SPI interfaces, and its ability to handle real-time measurement tasks efficiently. Experience with FPGA-based systems and high-speed digital design is therefore highly valuable. Additionally, our systems may include communication modules such as Ethernet (e.g., W5500) and UMTS connectivity, potentially including solutions with integrated or digital SIM (eSIM). Future expansions may also involve custom interfaces such as SBI-based modules or ICEPEAK-related integrations. Responsibilities * Optimize and review existing KiCad 10 schematics * Design professional PCB layouts from existing schematics * Improve component placement for manufacturability and signal integrity * Route high-quality PCBs according to industry best practices * Work with mixed analog and digital circuits * Design around FPGA-based architectures (Lattice ECP5 family) * Integrate communication modules (Ethernet, UMTS, SPI-based peripherals) * Follow design rules and manufacturing requirements * Prepare production-ready design files * Review and improve existing PCB designs * Collaborate with our engineering team via Git and online meetings Required Skills * Excellent knowledge of KiCad 10 * Professional PCB layout experience * Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing processes * Signal integrity and power distribution knowledge * Experience with: * High-speed digital interfaces * Analog circuits * Power electronics * Microcontrollers * Switching power supplies * FPGA-based designs (preferred) * Ability to organize complex schematics * Good English communication skills Nice to Have Experience with one or more of the following: * Lattice ECP5 / LFE5U series * ESP32 * STM32 * ADS1256 / ADS1263 * PT100 measurement circuits * Ethernet (e.g., W5500) * UMTS / cellular modules (including eSIM integration) * RS485 / Modbus * CAN Bus * USB * Industrial automation * EMC-aware PCB design * 4-layer and multilayer PCB design * Differential pair routing * Impedance-controlled layouts Project Type * Long-term cooperation * Multiple PCB projects * Industrial products * Continuous improvements * Flexible working hours What We Expect Please include in your proposal: * Portfolio of KiCad PCB layouts * Number of years using KiCad * Example of your most complex PCB * Experience with 4-layer or multilayer boards * Experience with FPGA-based designs (if available) * Experience with industrial electronics * Your hourly rate * Weekly availability Preferred Candidate We are looking for someone who values quality over speed and pays attention to detail.
