Paid 1-hour interview: Share how you do research (life-science / STM PhDs & postdocs)
Worldwide
We're JoVE (the Journal of Visualized Experiments) and we're trying to understand how life-science and STM researchers actually work day to day — from first idea all the way through to publication — so we can build tools that genuinely help. We're looking to talk with PhD students and recent postdocs for a 1-hour, 1:1 video interview. This is purely to listen and learn about your workflow — there's no pitch, no test, and nothing to prepare. We just want your honest experience of what works, what's frustrating, and what you wish existed. What you'll do Join one ~60-minute video call (Google Meet) at a time that suits you Walk us through how you approach your research — planning experiments, collecting and analyzing data, writing and publishing — and where you hit friction Speak candidly; there are no right or wrong answers Who we're looking for Currently a PhD student, or completed your PhD in the last ~3–5 years (recent postdoc) Working in life sciences / STM (biology, biomedical, chemistry, neuroscience, and adjacent lab-based fields) Preferably based in the USA or Europe Comfortable talking about your day-to-day research in English Both wet-lab and dry-lab / computational researchers are welcome — in-vitro, in-vivo, or hybrid. Details Pay: $30 (fixed) per completed 1-hour interview, via Upwork Format: one video call, scheduled around your availability Confidentiality: your input informs our product direction; anything you share is used for research purposes only To apply, please tell us briefly: Your field / research area Whether you're a current PhD student or a postdoc (and roughly what year you finished your PhD) Your country Whether your work is mostly wet-lab, dry-lab / computational, or a mix We'll follow up to book a time. Thanks for considering it — we know your time is scarce.
