We’re building the next generation of beautifully designed field guides for finding and collecting fossils in the United States and we’re looking for a team member who loves nature and ancient life, is a strong researcher, and can help us create beautiful imagery to help with identification. If you’re the kind of person who gets excited about fossils and turning complex information into friendly, accurate guides… keep reading 👇 About the Role We’re hiring a contractor who can take raw topics and turn them into polished entries inside our field guides as well as develop the proper format for a fossil hunting field guide. You’ll follow our existing templates and SOPs but we also value your creativity, your curiosity, and your ability to produce beautiful, accurate work. So that we know you actually read the job description answer "I read instructions" for the question "What is your greatest strength?" This is a hybrid role combining: 🔍 Research - Identify accurate, useful info about fossils - Pull together short, friendly overviews and specific content - Follow our guidelines + use additional reputable sources 🎨 Image Creation - Help us generate ultra photo-realistic images using the best AI tools available to create beautiful and accurate identification images 📘 InDesign Layout - Drop content and images into our existing Adobe InDesign templates - Follow formatting and style guidelines - Prepare final production-ready files 📝 Final Review + QA - Double-check accuracy - Ensure the layout looks great and follows our structure - Make sure everything is clean before handing off for final review 🧠 Must-Have Skills The right person for this role will have: Research + Writing - Strong research skills across the fossils found in the US - Fluent English writing/editing with clear, friendly tone - High accuracy, attention to detail, and pride in producing great work Workflow + Communication - Ability to follow SOPs and work inside our templates - Solid project management and personal organization skills - Fast turnaround when needed - Ability to collaborate via Slack + Zoom - Ability to work U.S. hours for 1–2 hours/week for meetings (otherwise fully flexible schedule) 🌍 Location & Hiring Notes - Worldwide applicants welcome - Strong preference for Philippines or US/Latin/South America - English must be fluent - Expected hourly rate: $10–$20/hr (depending on experience) 🚀 Who You Are You might be a great fit if you’re someone who: - Loves nature, science, and the outdoors - Has a degree in Paleontology, Geology, or a closely related field - Enjoys researching and learning new topics - Has a design eye and can make images look beautiful - Likes startup environments where things move fast - Wants to grow with a company long term - Takes pride in creating polished, high-quality work
