The client is a member of the Navajo Nation, and the care occurred at a federal/IHS facility. This project requires a deep dive into complex medical records to prepare the case for the mandatory Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) administrative phase before filing in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. Draft the Standard Form 95 (SF-95) for submission to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in Rockville, MD. Calculate and substantiate the "Sum Certain" by compiling and organizing damages documentation, including medical bills, future care estimates, and economic impacts. Coordinate with economic experts and life care planners to build the damages portfolio. Draft the initial Federal Court FTCA Complaint (compliant with D. Ariz. local rules) to be ready if the administrative claim is denied or exhausted. Qualifications: 5+ years of experience as a medical malpractice or complex catastrophic injury paralegal. Direct, proven experience with the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) process and SF-95 preparation. Exceptional skills in medical record summaries and chronologies. Familiarity with federal court pleading standards and electronic filing (CM/ECF) guidelines, ideally for the District of Arizona. Project Type: Discrete Project / Fixed Price or Hourly (Estimated 30–40 hours for initial workup, with potential for ongoing federal litigation support) Hourly Range: $40 - $65/hour (commensurate with senior federal/med-mal experience) Screening Questions (Required for applicants to answer): Please summarize your direct experience with the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) and submitting claims to HHS or other federal agencies. Describe your approach to organizing and analyzing massive medical charts for a birth injury or hypoxic brain injury case. Have you previously drafted pleadings or handled filings for the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona?
