Part-Time Assistant Who Catches What Everyone Else Misses

Summary

Read this all the way to the end. There is an instruction near the bottom that decides whether we read your application. ABOUT US We are a small marketing agency based in San Diego. We do SEO and AI-search work for twelve US clients: content, on-page fixes, backlinks, Reddit. Small team, fully remote, growing. WHAT WE ACTUALLY NEED An assistant. Not a specialist, not a strategist, not an SEO expert. Right now one person on our team catches everything. The task nobody assigned. The report with the broken link. The item marked done that was never published. It all lands on her, so her day goes into checking other people's work instead of doing her own. We want to hand that to you. You do not need to know SEO. You need to be smart, careful, and hard to fool. We will teach you the rest, and we are happy to train someone good. WHAT YOU WOULD DO EVERY DAY (four things) Keep our project board honest. Every promise made on a call or in Slack becomes a task with an owner and a due date. Nothing sits. Nothing gets marked done without proof. Chase people, politely, without being asked. If someone owed us something yesterday, you are the one who notices. Keep our freelancers moving. Briefs sent, deadlines tracked, and you tell us early when someone is about to miss. Check work before it goes out. Not as an expert, as a careful person. Are there ten items, like we promised? Do the links go where they say they go? Is that page actually live? Is anything blank, or spelled the British way? All ten of our clients are American. WHAT YOU WOULD NOT DO Talk to clients, write content, set strategy, or run audits. You are not being asked to have opinions about our specialists' work. You are being asked to catch the plain mistakes before a paying client sees them. When something looks wrong you tell us. You do not fix it yourself and you do not raise it with the client. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - Careful. You would rather check twice than guess once. - Clear written English, US standard. We are an American company, so "colour" and "programme" do not belong in our work. That is the kind of thing you would catch. - Comfortable telling a colleague their work is not ready. - Able to recognise a pattern in a mess of tasks and sort it out without being managed. - Reliable overlap with 9:00am to 5:00pm US Central, afternoons included. - Experience with Monday.com, Asana, Trello or ClickUp is a plus, not a requirement. DETAILS - 10 to 15 hours a week for the first two weeks, paid, spread across Monday to Friday rather than saved up - If it goes well the hours grow from there, and we expect this to reach full time before the end of the year - Fully remote, long term - Your week ends with a short note to the client summarizing what shipped - Tell us your rate. We are not setting a band and we would rather hear what you think you are worth. - We mean the part about it growing. We are hiring the person who will hold this seat when it is full time. HOW TO APPLY This is the first test, because catching mistakes is the job. There are at least three deliberate mistakes in this post. There may be more. We are not going to tell you how many. Start your cover letter with the word CAREFUL, then tell us what you found and where. If you are sure about two and unsure about a third, say exactly that. We would much rather see two you are sure of than five you are guessing at. Do not pad the list. Then answer the questions below. We do not read applications that skip this.
