Part-Time Freelance Local SEO Strategist & Executor
Worldwide
We are a growing digital marketing agency looking for an experienced and self-driven Local SEO Strategist to join our team on a part-time freelance basis. This is not a purely strategic role—we need someone who can both build the plan and execute it. You will work directly under the agency owner, follow our established processes and timelines, and be a key communicator to the internal team. We already have a link builder on the team, so link building is not part of this scope. What we need is someone who owns everything else: local SEO, on-page optimization, technical SEO, content strategy and creation, reporting, and project management. Strategy & Auditing Audit existing clients’ local SEO presence and identify gaps versus competitors Review current SEO plans and determine whether to continue, pivot, or build a new roadmap Develop clear, prioritized SEO strategies for each client aligned with their business goals Present your strategy and rationale to the agency owner in plain language—explain the “why” behind every decision Gather data and insights to support the agency owner in building client-facing proposals Local SEO Execution Optimize and manage Google Business Profile listings for clients Ensure local citation consistency (NAP) across directories and platforms Build and optimize local landing pages and location-specific content Implement schema markup (LocalBusiness, reviews, services, etc.) Monitor and support online review management strategies On-Page & Technical SEO Optimize page titles, meta descriptions, headers, and internal linking Identify and resolve technical SEO issues (crawlability, page speed, indexing, site structure) Manage and improve website architecture for SEO performance Conduct regular site health checks and implement fixes Content Strategy & Creation Develop content plans tied to SEO goals—not just producing content for the sake of it Write or oversee SEO-optimized blog posts, location pages, and service pages Ensure all content aligns with local and broad search intent Reporting & Communication Build clear, professional SEO reports that explain performance in plain language Pull data from tools like Google Search Console, GA4, BrightLocal, SEMrush, or similar Attend regular check-in meetings with the agency owner and internal team Proactively flag roadblocks, timeline risks, or areas where you need input Document all activities so the team understands what’s being done and why Project Management Follow our established processes, playbooks, and timelines—this is not a “build from scratch” role Manage your own work within Asana: create boards, task lists, and timelines Stay organized and proactive—we shouldn’t have to chase you for updates 3+ years of hands-on SEO experience with a strong local SEO focus Proven ability to audit, strategize, and execute—not just advise Excellent written and verbal communication in English; you must be able to explain your thinking clearly to non-SEO people Comfortable building and presenting reports (Google Search Console, GA4, BrightLocal, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or similar) Proficient with Asana or comparable project management tools Detail-oriented and process-driven—you follow systems and document your work Self-managed and proactive, but collaborative and responsive when coordination is needed Available Monday through Friday during US Eastern Time business hours (hours can be flexible but overlap is required for meetings and check-ins) Experience working with a digital marketing agency or managing multiple client accounts Familiarity with proposal writing or pulling together client-facing data WordPress or website CMS experience Experience with reputation management and review generation strategies You will report directly to the agency owner. We have established processes and timelines in place—your job is to work within them, not reinvent them. We will have regular check-ins where you walk us through what you’ve done, what’s next, and why. You won’t be communicating with clients directly—that’s handled by the owner—but you need to give us everything we need to have those conversations confidently. This is a part-time freelance engagement to start. As our client base grows, so can this role. Rate is monthly
