Part-Time Research Assistant — Vehicle Listing Data Collection (North Carolina)

OVERVIEW We are a consumer protection law firm in North Carolina seeking a reliable, detail-oriented research assistant for an ongoing part-time data collection task. This is a straightforward, repeatable assignment involving browsing public vehicle listing websites and recording specific information into a spreadsheet. THE TASK Each week, you will browse private-party (owner-listed, not dealer) used vehicle listings on Craigslist for the following North Carolina cities: - Charlotte - Raleigh - Greensboro - Winston-Salem - Durham - Wilmington - Asheville - Fayetteville - Greenville - Hickory - Jacksonville For each listing that meets the criteria below, you will record the following information into a provided Google Sheet or CSV template: 1. VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) — 17-character code, must be present in the listing 2. Seller phone number 3. Seller email address (if listed) 4. City 5. Vehicle year, make, and model 6. Listed price 7. Listing URL 8. Date of listing 9. Seller's name (if listed) CRITERIA FOR INCLUSION Only record listings that meet ALL of the following: - Listed by a private owner (not a dealer or business) - Includes a VIN number in the listing text - Located in North Carolina - Listed on Craigslist under the cars+trucks by owner section Do NOT record: - Dealer listings - Listings without a VIN - Listings outside North Carolina QUALITY CONTROL For each recorded listing, you must also provide a screenshot of the listing page confirming the VIN and contact information. Screenshots should be uploaded to a shared folder we will provide. TIME COMMITMENT Approximately 5-10 hours per week on a flexible schedule. This is an ongoing engagement with potential to expand hours over time for the right candidate. PAY $10-15 per hour depending on experience and quality of work. Pay is hourly, tracked through Upwork.
